Position Overview:
We are currently looking for a dedicated Heavy Duty Mechanic who will be responsible for both field and shop troubleshooting, maintenance and repair of a variety of Cat rental store equipment, ranging from construction tools, small engine equipment such as compaction equipment, pumps, mini excavators, skid steers and aerial work platform equipment.
Job Description:
- Troubleshoot and repair Caterpillar rental equipment, which includes small engine equipment, construction tools, compact construction equipment, and aerial work platform equipment
- Perform a wide variety of equipment repair diagnostics
- Utilize Caterpillar SIS and ET as required
- Complete technical documentation (service reports, warranty, crossover notes)
- Interact with customers, sales support, and the rest of the Finning team
- Work with the Service Supervisor and Leadhand on various tasks as required
Qualifications:
- Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician (HET) Certification
- Valid class 5 driver’s license with a successful recent drivers abstract
- Safety conscious team player with excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills with a high attention to detail
- Completion of Finning S-Levels, Failure Analysis, Machine Electronic Controls, or Tier 4 training would be considered an asset
- Completion of Caterpillar product courses would be considered an asset
- Previous repair and troubleshooting experience with construction tools, small engine equipment, aerial work platform equipment and diesel generator 8KW to 200KW
Notes:
- This field position is located at Fort McKay working a continuous shift, 7x7 shift rotation, supporting in shop as needed.
- A condition of employment is the ability to be fit tested and the ability to wear a respirator
- Any future shift changes that may occur will be made in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Collective Agreement
