Our cashiers play a critical role in providing premier customer service. As the most visible of our associates, they greet our customers and answer their questions in a friendly manner. We rely on them to ensure the correct price is charged for each item sold, provide the correct change, and handle other forms of currency. The desire to help others, take on other duties, and work on a team is key to this role’s success.
Duties & Responsibilities
Provides premier customer service, including greeting customers and answering their questions.
Accurately total customers merchandise at checkout and, using a cash register, complete transaction by accepting customer’s form of payment
Follow procedures regarding the sale or alcohol and cigarettes
Handle grocery items properly and use correct methods of bagging
Accepts payment and provide change and receipts when appropriate.
Handles cash and other forms of tender accurately.
Help customers find merchandise and answer customer’s questions
Bags products when necessary.
Answering questions about products and services.
Use proper phone etiquette when answering the phone and using the intercom
Stock and face shelves when needed
Clean counter and register area as needed. Including but not limited to: sweep, dust, clean belts/lane, etc.
Maintains a neat and clean register area.
Assists in other duties as assigned.
QualificationsQualifications
At least 18 years of age.
Ability to deliver friendly, courteous, prompt customer service.
Ability to read, write, and do simple math problems.
Ability to interpret and follow instructions.
Able to lift 20 pounds regularly and 30 pounds occasionally
Able to multitask and work in fast paced environment
Stand for the extent of a shift
Preferred Qualifications
Ability to work well with others and be an effective team member.
A passion for serving people.
Work Conditions
Cashiers perform their duties primarily at the front end of the store, with exposure to outside weather conditions at times. Work involves standing at a register for prolonged periods, repetitive arm and hand movements, moving and lifting product, and continuous interaction with customers and fellow associates.
