

Responsibilities:
• Participate in an 8-week rotational development program across multiple departments.
• Complete assigned projects, administrative tasks and learning activities within each department rotation.
• Attend meetings and shadow department leaders to gain exposure to business operations and leadership functions.
• Maintain professionalism and confidentiality while working with employees, customers and company information.
• Collaborate with team members and ask questions to support learning and development.
• Complete internship assignments and provide feedback regarding the internship experience.
Department Rotations
Marketing
• Gain exposure to branding, internal and external communications, social media and campaign development.
• Assist with content creation, marketing initiatives and promotional projects.
• Learn how marketing supports business growth and customer engagement.
Sales
• Learn the sales lifecycle, prospecting strategies, customer relationship management and account development processes.
• Observe and participate in cold calling, customer prospecting and introductory sales conversations.
• Gain exposure to load board management, load coverage processes and pitching freight opportunities to carriers.
• Learn how brokers build customer and carrier relationships while supporting operational and revenue goals.
• Participate in check calls and customer follow-up activities to understand shipment tracking and communication expectations.
• Shadow sales professionals during customer interactions, negotiations and sales meetings.
• Gain understanding of how sales activity contributes to company revenue growth and operational success.
Accounting
• Learn the fundamentals of financial reporting, invoicing, budgeting and expense management.
• Gain exposure to financial controls and how accounting supports operational decision-making.
• Assist with basic administrative or reporting tasks as appropriate.
Operations
• Gain understanding of day-to-day operational processes and customer support functions.
• Learn how operational teams support service execution, efficiency and customer satisfaction.
• Gain exposure to carrier setup and carrier services processes, including reviewing carrier documentation, insurance requirements and compliance standards to help ensure freight moves safely and efficiently.
• Learn how claims are managed from initial notification through resolution, including document collection, claim investigation, communication with customers and carriers and coordination with insurance partners.
• Gain understanding of IEL’s risk management and loss prevention processes and the role operations teams play in minimizing operational risk.
• Observe workflow management, process improvement initiatives and cross-functional collaboration
Human Resources
• Learn about recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, benefits, performance management, and HR compliance.
• Assist with administrative projects and employee engagement initiatives where appropriate.
• Gain understanding of HR’s role in supporting employees and business operations.
Information Technology (IT)
• Gain exposure to technical support processes, system management, cybersecurity awareness, and business technology operations.
• Observe how IT supports employees, infrastructure, and company systems.
• Assist with basic technology-related tasks and projects as appropriate.
Legal
• Gain exposure to contract review processes, compliance functions, and risk management initiatives.
• Learn how the Legal department supports operational decision-making, customer and carrier agreements, and business compliance.
• Gain understanding of the collections process, including customer account follow-up, payment resolution efforts, and coordination with internal departments regarding outstanding balances.
• Observe how legal and collections functions support financial stability and protect company interests.
Leadership Exposure
• Spend time with department heads and business leaders learning about their roles, leadership responsibilities, and decision-making processes.
• Gain understanding of how departments work together to support organizational goals and long-term business strategy.
• Participate in discussions regarding company structure, operational priorities, and business growth.
Requirements:
• Currently enrolled in a college or university program.
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality.
• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
• Primarily office-based work environment.
• Ability to sit, stand, and work on a computer for extended periods of time.
• May require occasional movement between departments or office locations for training purposes.
