

The MD, Head of Business & Professional Services ( B&PS) role is responsible for leading a group of talented bankers (and leaders) to deliver on the strategy for the Industry sector. The role requires strong leadership acumen alongside the ability to lead senior client relationships up to c-suite level.
The role forms part of the UK senior leadership team and is also a key component of the Global Industry team. An In-depth understanding of how the B&PS sub industries work is an integral part of the role, as is understanding how best to prioritise commercial focus areas in order to maximise team growth and gain market share.
A good understanding of the industry, direct competitors' products and services, is also necessary in order to contribute to the commercial objectives of the business. The role requires a thorough understanding of the strategic direction of the function within the relevant part of the business, combined with a solid conceptual/practical grounding in both the function and/or area of expertise and related subject areas.
Excellent communication skills are required in order to negotiate internally, often at a senior level. Strong external communication and negotiation skills will also be necessary. The role is accountable for end results, budgeting, planning, policy formulation and contribution to future strategy. The impact of the role reflects the size of the team managed, strategic influence on the business and interaction with other functions or businesses.
The role has full management responsibility for multiple teams, including a regional team in the North of England, alongside a virtual team focused on financial sponsors and more complex leveraged lending is also embedded within the role. Strong people management skills are a necessity.
The role is a direct report to the Head of the UK Commercial banking, with responsibilities often spanning across broader areas (cross discipline) of the UK franchise as the team pursues significant growth.
