Job Description
- Lead and ensure the implementation, development, and maintenance of EHS programs, procedures, and policies in compliance with applicable legal, corporate, and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations applicable to the operation.
- Supervise the administration and update of records as a hazardous waste and special handling waste generator.
- Ensure the development, implementation, and updating of Hazardous Waste and Special Handling Waste Management Plans.
- Evaluate and approve modifications to facilities, machinery, and equipment from an EHS and environmental compliance perspective.
- Oversee investigations of accidents, incidents, and unsafe conditions to identify root causes and ensure effective corrective and preventive actions are implemented.
- Coordinate internal audits and support regulatory inspections conducted by STPS, Civil Protection, Fire Department, and environmental authorities.
- Develop, implement, and maintain emergency response plans in coordination with internal brigades and corresponding authorities.
- Supervise the generation and updating of procedures, risk assessments, work instructions, and EHS-related documentation.
- Ensure training and awareness programs are provided to employees, contractors, and visitors on safety, hygiene, and environmental topics.
- Follow up on the closure of corrective actions resulting from audits, inspections, incidents, and regulatory findings.
- Participate in and lead continuous improvement initiatives related to environmental performance, waste reduction, legal compliance, and safety culture.
- Maintain effective communication with government authorities, suppliers, and internal departments to ensure compliance with EHS objectives.
- Promote an organizational culture focused on safety, compliance, and environmental responsibility.
- Provide support and direction to the EHS team during the temporary coverage period.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in EHS and environmental compliance positions within the manufacturing industry.
- Experience leading EHS teams and projects.
- Hazardous waste and special handling waste management experience.
- Environmental and regulatory legal compliance management.
- Knowledge of STPS regulations and applicable federal, state, and local environmental legislation.
- Experience with internal and external audits, as well as government inspections.
- Experience conducting incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
- Experience in emergency management and emergency response brigades.
- Knowledge of machinery and process risk assessments.
- Experience managing EHS indicators and metrics.
