Position Overview:
Reporting to the Advanced Operations Director, you will:
Drive the delivery of new products and manufacturing processes within agreed timelines and budgets.
Lead technical activities to ensure new equipment and processes are seamlessly integrated into our production sites.
Partner with R&D to develop processes capable of manufacturing new product designs safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with internal procedures and regulatory standards.
Partner with external engineering vendors for machine development to develop and build equipment on time, cost and expected quality and specification.
Analyze data, run engineering studies, and recommend improvements early in development to maximize long-term production efficiency and product profitability.
Communicate clearly and transparently with all project stakeholders, including status updates, risks, timelines, and financials.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and Lead process investigations, experiments, and Proof‑of‑Principle trials with R&D and AO teams.
Apply structured engineering tools such as Fish-bone diagram, DOE, process mapping, and risk assessments.
Provide Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Automation (DFA) recommendations and apply them throughout the design cycle.
Review materials, processes, and test specifications to ensure smooth transfer into manufacturing.
Lead troubleshooting activities using Six Sigma principles.
Support area technical leads (operations, manufacturing, automation) and act as a deputy when needed.
Contribute to process FMEAs, tolerance setting, and sampling plan development.
Support automation project managers in preparing URS requirements.
Write and execute validation documentation (URS, FAT, SAT, IQ) and lead certain validation steps.
Contribute to the validation runs (OQ, PQ) and support equipment run‑ins and ramp‑ups.
As an internal SME, attend design reviews with vendors and challenge solutions to ensure equipment meets long‑term production needs.
Maintain technical documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
Ensure full and effective knowledge transfer to local site engineering and operations teams during handover.
Skills & Experience:
Experience in a variety of projects; ability to work on a number of teams and projects in tandem.
Ability to read and review engineering drawings is essential and use CAD software packages (SolidWorks) is desirable.
Demonstrable experience with knowledge of mechanical/design engineering, process engineering is essential.
Ability to communicate effectively in English (verbal and written)
2-3 years of experience as a process engineer or similar role in manufacturing, engineering, or operations.
Experience working within the Operations, Engineering, R&D teams on automated equipment or new product introduction.
Knowledge of equipment installation and validation.
Experience with automated production and assembly equipment, automated material handling systems, or automated packaging (primary/secondary/tertiary) is a plus.
Understanding of full project lifecycle activities: URS, RFP, POP, FAT, SAT, IQ, OQ, PQ through to handover.
Six Sigma Green Belt (or working towards it) is desirable.
Qualifications/Education:
Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Engineering or a scientific subject.
Design control, statistical techniques, and validation standards
Process Excellence Green or Black Belt would be an advantage.
LEAN methodologies training/qualification is an advantage.
Travel Requirements:
Position may involve travel up to 25% of the time, mostly within Europe but overseas travel is expected. Most trips will include overnight travel.

Hybrid in Michalovce, Frequent interactions to the shop floor / production area
The role requires flexibility (as required) to visit and work with engineering vendors for machine development, suppliers for material sourcing and ConvaTec manufacturing sites for machine installation/validation.
