PURPOSE
This position provides process engineering and technical support to Air Products’ ASU plants in China, including wholly owned, joint venture, and subsidiary operations. The role supports safe, reliable, and efficient plant operation through process design support, troubleshooting, productivity improvement, and new plant startup and commissioning activities.
NATURE AND SCOPE
This position provides process and plant engineering support to ASU production facilities and associated businesses in the China region. The role focuses on improving asset performance through process engineering support, troubleshooting, plant efficiency, process safety, reliability, and productivity initiatives.
The position reports to the Plant Process Engineering Manager – Asia and works closely with global and regional process engineering teams to ensure consistent engineering practices and sharing of best practices.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
Provide process and plant engineering support to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of ASU facilities in China.
Support plant operations through process troubleshooting, resolution of operating issues, product supply reliability, and performance optimization.
Review and approve process isolation plans for major maintenance and modification activities.
Review and approve EMOC (Management of Change) from a process safety and operability perspective.
Provide process engineering support including P&ID review and markup, process design calculations, equipment sizing, and pipeline pressure drop simulations.
Support plant energy efficiency monitoring against budget and drive continuous year‑to‑year performance improvement.
Provide process safety support, including participation in Process Hazard Reviews, corrective actions, and root cause analysis (RCA) investigations.
Deliver process-related training to plant operators and engineers to improve operational capability.
Provide advanced process control (APC/MPC) implementation and plant tuning support.
Support capital projects including capacity expansion, efficiency upgrades, training, startup, and commissioning activities as requested by Project Delivery and Plant organizations.
Actively participate in, promote, and enforce Air Products safety programs, rules, and procedures.
Perform other related duties as assigned to support business and operational needs.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree or above in Chemical Engineering, Cryogenic Engineering, or Refrigeration and Cryogenic Engineering.
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in cryogenic ASU operations and/or process engineering.
Good working knowledge of P&IDs, process design, engineering calculations, and process control systems.
Ability to work effectively in a hands-on operating plant environment.
Experience with advanced process control (MPC/APC) is a plus.
Fluent in written and spoken English.
Willing to travel approximately 30% of the time, primarily within China with occasional travel to other Asia regions.
