Job Description:
Join Us. Build a Better World Through Business.
At Barry-Wehmiller Companies, we believe business can be a powerful force for good. Headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri, we are a global leader in manufacturing technology and services. Since our founding in 1885 as a maker of brewing machinery, we’ve grown through the acquisition of more than 80 companies, serving industries such as packaging, paper converting, sheeting, corrugating, engineering, and IT consulting. In 2016, we ranked No. 10 on the St. Louis Business Journal list of the city’s Top 150 Privately Held Companies.
What truly sets us apart is our culture—rooted in Truly Human Leadership, a philosophy that prioritizes the well-being and growth of every individual. We measure success by the way we touch lives, not just by financial results.
In India, Barry-Wehmiller operates as a hub of innovation and collaboration through our Global Competency Center (GCC) and other strategic functions. The GCC houses centers of excellence in engineering, content management, sourcing, software development, global IT operations, and shared financial services—providing critical support to Barry-Wehmiller divisions worldwide.
Our culture is built on:
· Ownership – Drive features end-to-end, from design to deployment.
· Flexibility – A friendly, results-oriented environment that respects your time.
· Empowerment – Your ideas matter, and your work creates visible impact.
· Learning and Growth – Tackle complex challenges alongside passionate peers, with continuous support for your development.

If you’re ready to bring your best thinking to a high-impact, future-focused environment—where long-term stability meets start-up agility—and be part of a company that cares deeply about people, we’d love to hear from you.
Responsibilities:
· Sr. Lead Engineer – Mechanical with a minimum of 15 years of experience, including 12+ years of hands-on mechanical design and development; responsible for leading, coaching, and developing a team of engineers while remaining actively hands‑on in mechanical design. This role combines deep technical contribution, collaborative leadership, and ownership mindset.
· Partners closely with BW Paperssytems global product management, manufacturing, and engineering teams to co‑create end‑to‑end engineering solutions, primarily from a mechanical design perspective, while coordinating and, when required, guiding Electrical and Controls engineering efforts to ensure integrated system performance.
· Serves as a trusted technical leader and steward of engineering quality within the GCC, influencing design direction through expertise, collaboration, and thoughtful challenge—rather than positional authority
· Primary industry focus: Corrugator and paper converting machinery.
Candidates with experience in adjacent industries—such as secondary packaging, end‑of‑line automation, material handling systems, industrial automation, continuous process machinery, or high‑speed production equipment—are welcome, provided their experience is transferable to corrugator‑type systems.
Key Result Areas:
· Owns and facilitates the DOU / SOW definition process for assigned programs, partnering with global and cross‑divisional stakeholders to clarify requirements, align scope, and set realistic delivery commitments
· Leads execution of engineering programs with global teams, ensuring alignment across locations, disciplines, and divisions from concept through release
· Remains personally accountable for at least one complex mechanical design deliverable per program, maintaining hands‑on technical contribution
· Guides design reviews, FMEA, and DFX activities collaboratively, improving design quality across teams
· Ensures delivery of high‑quality engineering documentation, either through direct contribution or supportive review and mentoring of team members
· Drives value creation through design optimization, standardization, and performance improvement across global platforms
· Invests in mentoring and growing engineers, strengthening technical capability, ownership mindset, and collaboration culture within the GCC
· Holds accountability for delivery commitments, product quality, and long-term team sustainability within assigned programmes
Technical skills:
· Engineering – Strong foundation in mechanical design from first principles, engineering mechanics, strength of materials, and system-level problem solving. Able to validate designs using calculations, FEA, tolerance stack-up analysis, GD&T, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
· Electrical & Controls (Collaboration & Integration) – Working knowledge of industrial electrical and controls systems, enabling meaningful collaboration with Electrical & Controls engineers on motors, drives, sensors, safety systems, and PLC-based architectures — ensuring seamless mechanical–electrical–controls integration. (Hands-on controls programming is not required.)
· Materials & Parts Selection – Sound understanding of engineering materials, manufacturing processes, and tolerance capabilities; hands-on experience selecting standard OEM components such as bearings, gearboxes, drives, belts, chains, and actuators for continuous-duty and high-load machinery.
· CAD – Expert-level proficiency in SolidWorks (mandatory) for complex assemblies and fully defined manufacturing drawings with GD&T, compliant with ISO / DIN / ANSI standards. Experience with Creo / Inventor and Model-Based Definition (MBD) is an advantage.
· Field Experience – Exposure to machine building, installation, commissioning, and field issue resolution is desirable, enabling design decisions grounded in real-world application and service feedback.
Soft Skills:
· Strong communication, coordination, and decision‑making skills for working with global stakeholders
· Team leadership and team‑building capability, including mentoring and technical coaching
· Attention to detail, ownership mindset, and quality‑focused execution
· Effective time management and ability to handle multiple priorities and NPD programs
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
Education and Experience:
· Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering, with a minimum of 15 years of total experience, including 12+ years of hands‑on mechanical design and development experience.
· OEM experience preferred, with exposure to machine installation, commissioning, and field issue troubleshooting, enabling practical, application‑driven design decisions.
· Proven experience executing engineering projects with global teams, collaborating across geographies and time zones throughout the project lifecycle.
· Demonstrated people and project leadership experience, having guided cross‑functional teams for at least 5 years, fostering collaboration across mechanical, electrical, controls, and related disciplines.
Travel:
· May need to travel up to 10% each year based on requirements.
· Should be willing to travel to Field to support product testing and validation.
