Job Summary
The Quality Control & Lab Operator is responsible for performing routine laboratory testing and inspections to ensure the quality and compliance of inbound raw materials, in process products, and finished goods. This role plays a key role in maintaining product integrity by executing quality analyses, documenting results, identifying nonconformances, and supporting corrective actions in accordance with established specifications and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine laboratory procedures to test and verify the quality of inbound raw materials, process products, and finished products.
- Execute in process tests and product inspections to ensure products meet defined specifications, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct a range of quality analyses in accordance with documented specifications, test methods, and standard operating procedures.
- Accurately document and record test results in laboratory and quality systems.
- Identify, report, and escalate non‑conforming results or quality failures; initiate or support corrective and preventive actions as required.
- Support interpretation of test results and quality data in collaboration with supervisors or quality leadership.
- Perform routine calibration, maintenance, and functionality checks of laboratory tools, instruments, and testing equipment.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant laboratory environment, following safety and quality guidelines.
- Adhere to all company policies, safety regulations, and quality system requirements (e.g., GMP, ISO, or similar, as applicable).
- Perform additional jobs assigned to meet the needs of the business.
Position Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree or technical certification in chemistry, biology, laboratory technology, or related field preferred.
- 1–3 years of experience in a quality control, laboratory, manufacturing, or production environment (experience level may be adjusted based on role leveling).
- Working knowledge of laboratory testing procedures, inspection techniques, and quality documentation practices.
- Ability to follow detailed procedures, specifications, and work instructions.
Physical Requirements
- Work is performed in a laboratory and/or manufacturing environment.
- May require standing for extended periods, handling laboratory equipment, and lifting materials within defined safety limits.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
Required Qualitifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, Biology, Laboratory Science, Quality, or a related scientific field desired.
- Associate degree or technical certification in a related field may be considered in lieu of a bachelor’s degree with relevant experience.
- 1–3 years of experience in a quality control, laboratory, manufacturing, or production environment (experience level may be adjusted based on job level).
- Familiarity with laboratory testing, sampling, and inspection methods.
- Ability to follow written procedures, specifications, and safety guidelines.
Education and Experience
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in testing and documentation.
- Basic understanding of quality systems and specifications.
- Ability to identify trends, deviations, and potential quality issues.
- Proficient with basic computer systems and data entry into laboratory or quality management systems.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with cross functional teams.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing or lab environment.
