Our Corporate Office is looking to grow with the addition of another Project Engineer, reporting into the Platform Manager. The Project Engineer is a key player in the management of our assigned development program(s), maintaining regular communications with our Customer regarding all program issues & milestone successes. This position will be based out of our Technical Centre in Kitchener and requires International travel to all of our facilities within Canada, the United States and Mexico to support business needs.
The Role • The Project Engineer will have ultimate program timing responsibility through all phases of the development program until process sign-off. Initiate specific program meetings - track and update all Program Specific Issues & record program meeting minutes • The Project Engineer will have ultimate design responsibility until customer PPAP approval (i.e. meets customer requirements for appearance, function, durability, and reliability). • Compile quotations as assigned by Program Manager or Director of Engineering. • The Project Engineer is ultimately responsible for product quality during the development phase, initial launch quality, and launch costs after PPAP. The Project Engineer is responsible for communicating quality control requirements to the quality department. • Responsible for sourcing and providing capable tools and equipment to manufacture the respective product (molds, gauges, fixtures, etc.). • Project Engineer is responsible to provide data and cost information to manufacturing group to develop end of arm tools, masks, and assembly equipment. • Project Engineer is responsible to provide program specific information to the manufacturing group so they can develop a proposed floor plan and capacity plan. • Responsible for gathering all pertinent information and specifications for assisting in the sourcing of capital equipment. • Assist purchasing with the sourcing of purchased components and raw materials. • Schedule and coordinate mold trials, and prototype builds using TSR and PSR procedures • The Project Engineer is responsible for testing, validation and verification of all product and customer specific performance requirements. • The Project Engineer may also be responsible to carry out other tasks as directed by the Program/Platform Manager, Director of Engineering, or the President.
Qualifications and Skills • Preferred Mechanical Engineering Degree or Diploma • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written & verbal • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office or similar software • Familiar with customer and AIAG requirements • Understanding of Design and design tools, including; DFMEA, DFA, DFM, Mold Flow, FEA, CFD, GD&T etc. • Understanding of injection moulding process, tooling, production machines and assembly fixtures
