Position Summary The Production Superintendent oversees all reclamation field operations to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company policies, customer requirements, and applicable regulations. This role supervises front line project supervisors and ensures coordinated, productive daily execution.
Supervisor Responsibilities This position has direct supervisory responsibility for supervisors.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities • Lead daily reclamation field activities, including earthwork, grading, soil placement, and revegetation. • Manage crews, equipment, subcontractors, scheduling, and labor productivity to meet project deadlines. • Track daily progress and maintain accurate production records. • Coordinate equipment operations and maintenance with front line supervisors. • Foster a positive employee relations environment and promote teamwork and performance accountability. • Support continuous development of front line leaders and step in for the Site Manager as needed. • Perform other duties as required to meet operational and organizational needs.
Typical Physical Demands • Requires prolonged sitting, some bending, stooping and stretching. • Frequent data entry for extended periods. • Occasional lifting of materials weighing up to 30 pounds. • Manual dexterity and eye–hand coordination sufficient to operate office equipment (e.g., keyboard, phone, copier, calculator) • Requires adequate hearing and vision to prepare, review, and communicate reports effectively. • Mobility sufficient to travel as needed.
Typical Working Conditions Work involves both office and active mine site environments, requiring compliance with all safety and environmental standards and occasional evening or weekend work.
Education and Experience • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Engineering, or a related field from an accredited institution. • Minimum seven (7) years of related work experience. • Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience that demonstrate the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.
Licenses, Registration, and Certifications • Colorado Surface Mine Foreman Certificate, or ability to obtain it within 3 months. • MSHA Instructor Certification preferred. • Must possess a valid driver’s license through duration of employment. • Must meet all insurability requirements as specified by Westmoreland’s policies or Driver’s insurance provider.
