Material Handler to be an integral part of our Fabrication team. This includes receiving, storing, and distributing materials, as well as maintaining accurate inventory records.
Primary Responsibilities
- Comply, ensure compliance with safety procedures, regulations related to material handling and lifting operations.
- Confirm accuracy of material being delivered.
- Load and unload trucks, and identify incoming material by size, type, schedule, heat numbers and grade.
- Verify quantity and quality of order with purchase order.
- Report any material discrepancies.
- Mark materials and material locations properly.
- Confirm accuracy of material being pulled, delivered to production bays and designated workstations.
- Address material shorts as requested by Material Control.
- Complete inventory and routing documents correctly.
- Assist with material reconciliations at job closeouts as requested.
- Operate material handling equipment such as forklifts.
- Move materials within warehouse or other storage area.
- Assist in general housekeeping and clean-up task.
- To work overtime as requested.
- Perform other duties assigned by manager.
Qualifications
- Proven working experience in a pipe fabrication shop.
- Familiarity with modern warehousing practices and methods.
- Good organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to lift heavy objects, up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work in all weather conditions i.e., heat, cold, dust, rain.
- Must be able to read a tape measure.
- Forklift experience.
- Ability to read, write and speak English.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Demonstrated ability to function in a team environment.
- Previous pipe yard experience is a plus.
