The Director - Integrated Genomics Services is responsible for leading multiple teams of talented and passionate managers, research specialists and informaticians spread across the Genomics/Omics/Biorepository, Bioinformatics and Zebrafish Core Facilities.
The primary focus is the day-to-day operational oversight and strategic management of the various IGS teams, in order to support internal and external life science projects from the clinical, translational and basic research communities throughout the whole sample-to-data lifecycle. The incumbent is responsible for new technology developments, implementation of clinical tests and novel services supporting clinical and translational users alike. S/he is responsible for team member training, networking with other core facilities, is an important technical leader who thinks independently, innovates, analyzes, troubleshoots and resolves complex technical problems on all aspects of technology platforms, SOP, data generation and data analysis. A key aspect of the role is to develop academic and commercial opportunities for collaboration and revenue generation.
The incumbent is also a proven strategic leader with the ability to strategically manage and operationally advise other service-focused scientific groups such as the Zebrafish Core. The Director - Integrated Genomics Services demonstrates the ability to learn quickly about new fields and interact and lead other scientists and managers with integrity, cultural sensitivity and emotional intelligence.
In view of the evolving needs and opportunities within Sidra, this position may be required to perform other duties as assigned and reporting relationships may vary.

Extensive experience in coordinating multiple research projects and clinical genetic test requests

3+ years’ experience in managing multicultural research environments
Exceptions to the experience requirement may be granted for Qatari nationals (internal and external candidates), with a reduction of up to two (2) years.
Medical genetics experience
Research leadership experiences within an academic health center or university with high research activity, good record of scientific publication and outstanding reference
