ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for a
Senior Backend Engineer
to design and maintain scalable, secure backend systems that power a high-scale consumer dating platform. You will work with Kotlin and AWS-native services, owning projects end-to-end from architecture to production delivery. The role includes mentoring junior engineers and contributing to technical standards, with AI-assisted development tools integrated into the engineering workflow.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Design, implement, and maintain backend systems that are scalable, secure, and reliable, using AWS-native services;
- Drive individual projects from inception to delivery, owning the full software development lifecycle;
- Collaborate with Product Managers, Designers, and other Engineers to ship new features and improvements;
- Apply AI-based development tools and workflows to enhance productivity and code quality;
- Participate in architecture discussions and propose technical solutions that support long-term scalability;
- Support junior engineers through pairing, mentoring, and code reviews;
- Contribute to engineering standards and best practices to maintain a high-quality codebase.
MUST HAVES
- 5+ years of professional experience in
backend Kotlin software engineering

- 2+ years working with
cloud environments
, preferably
AWS
, including deployment and monitoring;
- Proven experience using
AI-powered development tools
(e.g., Cursor, Claude, ChatGPT) as part of day-to-day engineering workflows, along with hands-on experience integrating and supporting AI/LLM-powered features or services in production systems;
- Proven ability to run projects autonomously and deliver production-ready systems;
- Exposure to
secure API design
,
distributed systems
, and
microservices architecture
;
- Experience with
CI/CD pipelines
and containerization tools like
Docker
or
Kubernetes

- Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools such as
Terraform
