

Summary
In service of CalArts’ newly reaffirmed mission, values, and Strategic Framework, the Office of the President seeks to employ an Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Access (IDEA) Administrative Coordinator under the Institute Diversity Office and newly launched IDEA Cooperative. The Institute aspires to become a leader that the world looks to when it comes to advancing inclusive artistic practice, artistic study, and anti-racist cultural production, and the work of the IDEA Cooperative is essential to this reality. The ideal candidate will be a motivated self-starter with a demonstrated ability to multitask, in a fast-paced environment on matters requiring discretion and in some cases maintaining privilege. They will possess organizational skills, and the ability to maintain balance while managing multiple and potentially changing priorities.
Essential Job Functions:
Reporting to the Director of IDEA Programs and Title VI and Vice President, IDEA, the Coordinator is the central hub for all IDEA work including the planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating of programs and events focused on inclusion, diversity, equity, and access at CalArts. The administrator is responsible for the smooth function of the inclusion, diversity, equity, and access (IDEA) related efforts for the Institute. As a new initiative, the IDEA Cooperative brings together current work happening with and for all constituents of the Institute -- faculty, staff, students, alumni, and trustees -- and expands this work with a focus on rooting out any structural racism and inequity that exists at CalArts. This new position will work closely with all stakeholders doing IDEA work -- including faculty members, staff, external consultants, Institute leadership, and trustees.
The first year of this work will include:
The Coordinator will help make all IDEA activity and its effect on CalArts transparent to all, by preparing pro forma budgets and other materials to enable additional financial support through grant funding, philanthropy, and effective, transparent budgeting through the campus budget process. Other coordinating activities include planning, developing and implementing virtual programming; overseeing the IDEA Cooperative budget for the Office of the President and submitting budget reports; developing and executing contracts; coordinating diversity related training initiatives; assisting with the facilitation of a new IDEA Task Force which will meet quarterly and involve students, faculty, staff, alumni, trustees, and external experts; and participating in planning meetings, staff meetings, faculty meetings, shared governance bodies, training and development programs, and professional development activities. The role will also perform other administrative duties related to IDEA work as assigned.

Salary
$28.67- $31.43 an hour
