Middlebury College’s School of Japanese (SoJ) is pleased to announce vacancies for Instructors of Japanese for the new MA program in Japanese language and culture (although a single candidate may fill both positions). The first position is available for SoJ’s summer 2022 in-person session and is located on Middlebury College campus in Vermont. The in-person program is from June 20th to August 2, 2022, although online orientation and/or workshops maybe required before the staring date. The second position is available for a 15-week almost asynchronous online course and will be offered in either fall or winter. The course content of both summer in-person and almost asynchronous online course is equivalent to 3 credit hours of study or 45 hours of contact hours with office hours.
The summer 2-week intensive course includes a salary, lodging and a complete meal plan. Travel costs to and from Middlebury are not included.
We are looking for faculty members with the following characteristics: demonstrated teaching excellence in Japanese as a foreign language, being native or near-native in Japanese and ability to lead co-curricular activities that are an integral part of the language curriculum.
The successful candidates should possess a Ph.D. or equivalent, strong interpersonal skills, and demonstrated success as a member of an instructional team. Candidates with a creative, dynamic, and easy-going approach will be an excellent fit for the program.
