The Middlebury School of Hebrew is pleased to announce openings for summer 2022 Hebrew instructors, both in person on the Middlebury College campus in Vermont and online. The application deadline is Sunday, December 5th, 2021.
We are looking for faculty members who have extensive experience teaching both Hebrew language and culture. Our unique 3, 6 and 7-week Modern Hebrew language programs and our Classical Hebrew program combine an immersive linguistic and cultural environment with rigorous daily classroom instruction. This is a unique opportunity to join a highly motivated community that is actively engaged in the teaching and learning of Hebrew, both inside and outside of class, 24/7. In addition to the salary, lodging and a complete meal plan will be provided.
Please note that all in-person instructors are required to arrive to campus on Wednesday, June 29th, 2022 and to teach for the entire duration of their program.
Summer 2022 Program Dates:
7-week Immersion (on campus): July 1 - August 19, 2022
6-week Immersion (online): July 1 - August 12, 2022
3-week Immersion/LLL (on campus): July 1 - July 22, 2022
4-week Classical Hebrew (on campus): July 1 - July 29, 2022
In addition to the salary, lodging and a complete meal plan will be provided if you hired for on campus work.
The successful candidate should possess a minimum of an M.A., or a strong advanced degree, in second language acquisition, culture, or literature (credentials may also be considered), strong interpersonal skills, and demonstrated success working as a member of a Hebrew language instructional team. A candidate with a creative, dynamic approach, including advanced technology and computer skills, will be an excellent fit for the School of Hebrew.

Your teaching background, including the number of years you have taught Hebrew, where you have taught and which levels.
An explanation of your language teaching philosophy and how you would apply it to the School of Hebrew.
A description of how you use technology in the language classroom.
For those who are interested in teaching in our remote program, please describe your previous experience teaching online, including your use of technology both inside and outside of the remote classroom.
A list of the School of Hebrew language program(s) that you are applying to teach in from the following list:
