The Geriatrics Center and Biology of Aging Group at the University of Michigan are seeking applications for one Assistant or Associate Professor position. Successful candidates will join a highly-interactive, well-funded, and creative faculty, in an environment that includes the Paul F. Glenn Center for Aging Research, NIA Intervention Testing Program, The University of Michigan Cardiovascular Aging Center, Claude Pepper Older Americans Independence Center, the Ann Arbor VA GRECC, and a long-standing NIA-funded training grant. These programs, together with substantial start-up funding, provide valuable infrastructure and resources for new and established researchers. This recruitment is the second of an extended initiative to expand the Center with six new faculty positions and to further enhance Michigan’s long-standing excellence in aging research. Successful candidates will be housed in modern, collaborative lab space, and will receive a primary appointment in a basic science or research-oriented clinical department as appropriate.
Minimum qualifications for junior faculty are a PhD, MD, or equivalent degree, plus several years of highly productive postdoctoral research, as well as a clear interest in problems relevant to aging. Established scientists would be expected to have an international reputation as a leader in aging research, a strong track record of extramural funding, and a reputation as an outstanding mentor.
