

The Department of Dermatology is seeking an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner to provide dermatologic care in our Cedar Rapids clinic and provide medical management for patients, exercising autonomy in medical decision-making and services provided in dermatology. This individual will function as a member of the dermatology team to plan, deliver, and evaluate dermatological care.
Position Responsibilities
• Dermatology service providing management of dermatologic care in clinical setting; supervising care plans; ordering treatments, tests and medications. Perform patient assessments in a timely manner and consult attending staff as appropriate.
• Mentor and educate medical students and other trainees as to the needs and issues of dermatology patients and population management.
• Provide overall comprehensive dermatology care, functioning independently to perform or assist in procedures; order and interpret laboratory tests, biopsy reports and related studies, facilitate home health instructions; prescribe, deliver and/or dispense medications.
• Document patient assessments and plan of care in the electronic medical record and generate appropriate health reports for outgoing correspondence.
• Assure completion of documentation for coding and billing purposes.
• Direct and mentor other medical personnel and health professionals in the execution of patient care.
• Initiate and coordinate patient referrals to appropriate specialty and subspecialty physicians or other health care providers as indicated by the patients' health condition(s)/diagnosis.
• Facilitate the appropriate referral of patients to other health facilities, agencies and resources as appropriate.
• Provide guidance and counseling to patients and family members. Keep all referring physicians updated on patients' condition.
• Participate in the development, utilization and evaluation of resources to meet patient and family educational needs. Provide education and serve as a resource for CCOM and UI Health Care staff and
• providers. Stay current on dermatology issues (national and local).
• Assure clinical competency and expertise with patients. Maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, residents, students and the public.
• Attend Quality and Safety meetings and Committee meetings. Participate in safety and quality issue projects.

Minimum Eligibility Requirements
• A Master's degree is required. A Master's degree in Nursing is preferred. If a Master's degree is in a related field, a Baccalaureate degree in Nursing is required.
• Current license to practice nursing in the Iowa is required.
• Current certification in specialty area and licensure as ARNP in state of Iowa is required.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
• Experience providing specific dermatologic management (beyond those provided by primary care) for patients in an outpatient setting is required.
• Experience exercising autonomy in medical decision-making and services provided is required.
• Experience managing resource utilization and decrease costs to patients and the institution while providing personalized care is highly desirable.
• At least 3 years’ experience in a dermatology clinic or academic department is highly desirable.
