JOB SUMMARY: Designed to support the development of foundational social work competencies within a school-based setting. This learning experience emphasizes relationship-building, advocacy, ethical practice, and understanding how social work skills are applied to promote student success. Under the supervision of a licensed school social worker, the BSW intern gains hands-on exposure to school-based social work practice through guided participation, observation, and supported engagement with students, families, and staff. Interns learn how social workers contribute to student achievement, equity, and social-emotional well-being. This internship is unpaid and aligned with the professional ethical standards of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW).

Job Task Descriptions Frequency Percentage of Time 1. Provide school-based, multi-tiered support, as well as social, emotional, and behavioral intervention services to individuals, groups, and parents/guardians. Daily 25% 2. Observe social, emotional, and behavioral assessments to maximize student achievement and success, including data collection for behavior interventions and monitoring progress. Daily 25% 3. Work collaboratively with the site-based school social worker, teachers, and teaching assistants, to assist with implementation of interventions to meet the needs of students. Daily 10% 4. Observe and assist in school-wide safety efforts, including exposure to crisis prevention and intervention procedures. Daily 10% 5. Prioritize time effectively, working with supervisor to identify specific goals and priorities for learning. Daily 5% 6. Support family outreach and engagement efforts that strengthen Family-School Community partnerships and connect students to community resources. Weekly 15% 7. Participate in regular supervision to establish learning goals, engage in reflective practice, and support ongoing professional growth. Weekly 5% 8. Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
