The Infrastructure Resilience Team is part of the Planning and Sector Partnerships Unit which is responsible for developing and maintaining New Zealand’s national emergency management planning framework and partnering with a wide range of stakeholders to build resilience across the 4R’s of risk reduction, readiness, response and recovery in support of communities.
The Senior Advisor, Infrastructure Resilience is responsible for:
- Developing and maintaining strategic national CDEM planning framework doctrine and guidance for lifeline utilities/critical infrastructure stakeholders.
- Supporting delivery of the lifeline utilities/critical infrastructure work programme with a strong focus on advocating for risk reduction, readiness, response and recovery practices in the infrastructure sector.
- Managing relationships with several Sector Coordinating Entities and associated stakeholders, such as, large companies and regulators.
- Working on the Lifelines function when the National Crisis Management Centre (NCMC) is activated.
Essential skills and Experience Required
- A tertiary qualification in emergency management or related discipline OR an equivalent body of knowledge and experience.
- Experience in developing and implementing operational plans
- Knowledge, understanding and ability to interpret, develop and apply national policies
- Experience in the development of strategic frameworks, national guidance and advice
- Excellent communication skills, with an ability to review Cabinet papers, present/brief to various audiences, write useful guidance/advice and explain complex topics clearly.
