The Manager of Operations supports the business operations of a department and is responsible for organizing, planning, and leading key/critical departmental projects and/or programs on behalf of the executive leader. This position drives the department’s objectives and ensures the executive leader’s priorities are met.
K.S.A.'s:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or related field; 10+ years’ working with executive leaders in highly complex organizations.
- Business or healthcare experience coordinating and improving workflows for executive leaders in a complex and fast changing environment.
- Ability to effectively manage self and help executive and senior level leaders navigate through complex issues and decisions; driving alignment and resolving issues amongst senior level teams.

Job Duties:
- Meets frequently with the executive leader to keep him/her abreast of key project developments and ensure synchronization of priorities and expectations.
- Reviews a collective snapshot of all work in the various department under the executive leader, routinely prepared by lower-level administrative support.
- Serves as liaison between the executive leader and direct reports and colleagues handling requests in an efficient and timely manner.
- Serves as Project liaison to collect and report out on project milestones from other administrative roles throughout the team.
- Attends internal and external meetings with or on behalf of the executive leader as appropriate to represent the function.
- Oversees department budgets, approving expenditures and implementing budgetary adjustments as appropriate and necessary.
- Lead and facilitate key departmental projects and initiatives, ensuring the timely execution and quality of results and serves on or leads “Committees” and “Councils”.
- Designs, monitors and improves processes for executive leader(s). Collaborates with staff to define, document and maintain clear, well-defined processes.

Lurie Children’s is seeking a Manager of Business Operations to support the Hospital‑Based Medicine Outreach and Neonatology Outreach divisions. Reporting to the Division Administrator II, this role partners closely with divisional leadership and Lurie Children’s Medical Group to advance financial performance, operational stability, and strategic objectives across multiple partner hospital sites.
The Manager of Business Operations provides high‑level financial, analytical, and operational oversight for a large, geographically distributed physician workforce and plays a key role in ensuring accurate budgeting, invoicing, effort tracking, and compliance with partner hospital agreements.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development of monthly and ad hoc business analytics, dashboards, and decision‑support metrics for divisional leadership.
- Provide financial and operational oversight supporting more than 100 hospitalists, neonatologists, and intensivists across seven partner hospital sites.
- Monitor compliance with partner hospital agreements and support contract and partnership coordination.
- Manage operating budget oversight, including invoice reconciliation, financial monitoring, and timely outreach invoicing.
- Partner with divisional leadership to maximize clinical revenue by monitoring charge capture, coding levels, and revenue cycle performance.
- Oversee tracking and reconciliation of faculty effort, FTE allocation, clinical hours, PTO, FMLA, moonlighting, and contracted hours; ensure updates are communicated as changes occur.
- Strengthen payroll accuracy and fund allocation through standardized tracking processes, reducing downstream corrections and administrative risk.
- Collaborate with the Division Administrator and Administrative Coordinator to support strategic initiatives, including outreach faculty alignment with the main campus and high‑volume physician recruitment.
- Provide administrative management of the airway rotation program in partnership with the Faculty Development Medical Director.
Success Measures
- Timely and accurate financial reconciliations and operating budget management
