Role Overview
We are seeking a proactive Lead Web Accessibility Specialist to serve as the "player-coach" and primary Subject Matter Expert (SME) for accessibility within our IR Web department. This hybrid role combines technical web development with project management to ensure our digital IR assets meet high-performance standards and legal conformity.
You will own the strategy for our accessibility segment, managing client subscriptions and remediation timelines while performing hands-on fixes within our proprietary CMS. This position offers significant autonomy to define business processes and educate internal teams, placing you at the forefront of our emerging accessibility business.
Core Responsibilities
- Segment Ownership & SME: Act as the primary technical advisor for all accessibility matters, evaluating product approaches and flagging systemic issues to leadership.
- ADA Remediation: Partner with Level Access to scan client websites, identify errors, and implement technical remediations within the Q4 CMS.
- Project Coordination: Own the master schedule for accessibility subscriptions. You will prioritize incoming tasks, manage renewal timelines, and report on the overall "health" and throughput of the segment.
- Client Advocacy: Lead educational conversations with executive-level stakeholders to explain WCAG standards, manage expectations regarding technical constraints, and guide them through our remediation methodology.
- Cross-Functional Agility: Support the broader web team with custom website additions (change requests) and general technical support as departmental needs fluctuate.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Experience: 3–5 years in digital accessibility, web coordination, or CMS management.
- Mandatory Expertise: Proven training or expertise in Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 standards.
- Technical Skills: * Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- Experience with accessibility testing tools (specifically Level Access or Axe).
- Ability to navigate enterprise or proprietary CMS platforms.
- Client-Facing Professionalism: Exceptional ability to translate complex compliance needs into relatable language for non-technical clients.
- Self-Starter Mindset: Highly organized with the ability to work independently, navigate ambiguity, and define new business processes.
Success Metrics (KPIs)
Your performance will be evaluated through both quantitative and qualitative measures:
- Throughput & Efficiency: Turnaround time for remediation projects.
- Client Satisfaction: Measured via client surveys and engagement quality.
- Process Innovation: Identification and implementation of process or tool improvements.
- Quality Control: Maintaining a low error rate in implemented accessibility fixes.
Interview Process
- Recruiter Screen: Focus on client-facing experience and WCAG background.
- Hiring Manager Interview (1 Hour): Conducted by HM; includes practical development questions and a review of accessibility templates.
- Panel Interview: Discussion with Project Managers and Developers regarding scenario-based problem-solving.
