JOB SUMMARY: This position will be responsible for handling all raw materials, works in progress, and finished goods within the plant and product in and out.
JOB FUNCTIONS: Job functions include but are not limited to the following:
- Operates propane or electric powered industrial truck equipped with lifting devices such as forks and clamps to lift, stack, or move product, equipment, or materials between loading, processing, and storage areas in a warehouse or factory.
- Moves levers, turns steering wheel, and presses pedals to drive truck and control movement of lifting apparatus
- Stages load for transport by stacking, arranging, and securing loads
- Positions forks and other lifting devices under or around loaded pallets, skids, boxes, rolls, products, or materials and transports load to designated area
- Unloads and stacks material by raising and lowering lifting device
- May supply production with materials as needed
- Unloads and loads tractor trailers when required
- May manually load or unload materials onto or off pallets, skids, or lifting devices
- May inventory materials
- May weigh materials or product and record weight and other production data on tags, labels, or shipping paperwork
- Examines contents and compares with records, such as manifests, invoices, bill of lading, or orders to verify accuracy of incoming and outgoing shipment
- May enter, transcribe, record, or maintain information in either written form or electronically
- Performs routine inspections on vehicles and auxiliary equipment
- Other duties as assigned.
BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE:
- Manufacturing experience preferred, along with 2-4 years’ experience in a similar role
- Must have prior experience operating a forklift and clamp truck
- To perform this job successfully, an individual must have excellent attendance, be able to work independently and be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
SKILLS:
- LANGUAGE SKILLS
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus.
- MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- REASONING ABILITY
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- Company issued Fork Truck Operator’s License
- Company issued Clamp Truck Operator’s License
EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE:
- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent required.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Schedules are 8-hour shifts Monday – Friday. 3rd shift schedule is Sunday – Thursday.
- Employees are required to work overtime including up to 12-hour shifts.
- Employees must have the ability to work alternate schedules and overtime that may include early mornings, nights, and/or weekends for coverage and be punctual while doing so.
- Awkward and/or repetitive movements
- Ability to stand, bend, squat, climb (up to 2ft), reach above shoulder and at waist or lower, push/pull force up to 15lbs, carry, walk and stoop occasionally (1-33% of the time)
- Ability to twist frequently (34-66% of the time)
- Ability to grasp and sit continuously
- Lifting up to 75 lbs occasionally
- Requires use of both feet
- Requires use of both hands for simple grasping, firm grasping, fine manipulation and repetitive actions continuously
- Ability to read, write, hear, see, speak and have agility on a continuous basis
- Reading computer screen or other electronic devices
- Use of various hand and electrical tools and equipment
- Work in areas of fluctuating temperature
- PPE required: Steel-toed/safety footwear, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection, Cut resistant Safety Gloves, Hair Net, Beard Net
