How You’ll Make an Impact:
The CMM Inspector is responsible for performing dimensional inspections and providing documented objective evidence of product conformity within a precision manufacturing environment. This role supports production, quality, management, and customer requirements through the operation, setup, programming, and use of Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs) and other inspection equipment. Depending on experience and level, the CMM Inspector may support or lead advanced inspection activities, program development, customer interaction, and continuous improvement initiatives.
What you’ll be doing as a CMM Inspector:
- Working a full-time, onsite position at our Chatsworth, CA location.
- Perform visual, dimensional, mechanical, and final inspections on raw materials, in-process components, and finished products using CMMs and conventional inspection equipment.
- Develop, execute, validate, and troubleshoot CMM programs using customer drawings, CAD models, specifications, and inspection requirements.
- Interpret engineering drawings, models, manufacturing orders, work instructions, and GD&T requirements in accordance with ASME Y14.5 standards.
- Perform source, receiving, in-process, first article, final, and test inspections as required.
- Generate and maintain accurate inspection records, FAIRs, rejection tags, corrective actions, and related quality documentation.
- Review and approve inspection and test data to verify compliance with customer and internal quality standards.
- Support corrective and preventive action activities and assist with nonconforming material investigations.
- Interface with production teams, customers, auditors, and government source inspectors as required.
- Maintain compliance with company quality systems, procedures, and regulatory requirements including AS9100 and ISO standards.
- Utilize precision measuring equipment including calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, vision systems, surface plates, scopes, and other inspection tools.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to inspection methods, programming efficiency, and quality performance.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications (Education, skills and experience):
- Experience in quality inspection within aerospace, machining, manufacturing, or precision machining environments.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, customer specifications, CAD models, and technical documentation.
- Knowledge of GD&T principles and inspection methodologies.
- Experience operating, setting up, programming, or troubleshooting CMM equipment.
- Proficiency using standard inspection tools and dimensional measurement equipment.
- Ability to complete and maintain detailed inspection and quality records.
- Understanding of quality management systems such as AS9100, ISO 9001, or related standards.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Basic to advanced shop math skills and understanding of dimensional analysis.
Preferred Qualifications (Education, skills and experience):
- Experience with Zeiss CMMs, Calypso, MCOSMOS, CAT1000, Micro-Vu, or similar inspection software and systems.
- Experience creating or working with CAD models.
- Aerospace manufacturing experience.
- Experience with AS9102 First Article Inspection requirements.
- Technical certification or formal training in Quality, Manufacturing, CMM Programming, or related fields.
- Experience supporting audits, customer inspections, or continuous improvement initiatives.

The CMM Inspector Compensation range for onsite California applicants is $30 - $35 per hour commensurate with experience. Some shifts may include shift differential pay rates. Other site ranges may differ.
