Position Summary
The Integrated Planning and Scheduling Lead is responsible for development and execution of an integrated production plan that balances forecasting, customer demand, manufacturing capacity, material availability, and inventory objectives. This role combines day-to-day scheduling execution with forward-looking supply planning and scenario analysis to support business objectives. The position operates as a key individual contributor and cross-functional partner that will regularly interact with individuals from Executive level to plant floor.
Key Responsibilities
Master Scheduling & Execution (Tactical)
- Key person for weekly schedule development and production release
- Develop, maintain, and publish the master production schedule for all coaches
- Translate customer orders, forecasts, and inventory targets into feasible production schedules
- Release schedules to manufacturing on time and adjust plans as demand, capacity, or material constraints change
- Monitor and drive schedule adherence, escalating risks proactively
- Resolve short-term issues related to material shortages, capacity constraints, or priority changes
Planning, Analysis & Decision Support (Strategic)
- Perform capacity, inventory, and supply scenario analysis to support operational and business decisions
- Evaluate trade-offs between service levels, inventory, overtime, lead time, and cost
- Recommend safety stock, lot size, and planning parameter changes based on demand and supply variability
- Support longer-range planning horizons to improve schedule stability and operational responsiveness
Demand & Supply Alignment
- Collaborate with Sales, Production Engineering and Purchasing to align forecasts with supply capabilities
- Participate in S&OP / IBP processes by developing and presenting supply plans, constraints, and risks
- Identify demand volatility or structural supply gaps and propose mitigation strategies
Materials & Constraint Management
- Coordinate closely with Purchasing and Production Planning to ensure material availability
- Monitor critical components, supplier lead times, and production bottlenecks
- Proactively manage constraints that impact customer service and production execution
Inventory Management
- Balance finished goods, WIP, and inventory to meet working capital targets
- Identify excess, slow-moving, and at-risk inventory and recommend corrective actions
- Support continuous inventory optimization initiatives
Systems, Data & Continuous Improvement
- Maintain planning master data accuracy in ERP / MRP systems (BOMs, routings, lead times, calendars)
- Improve scheduling processes, planning logic, and reporting tools
- Support ERP, APS, or planning system implementations and enhancements
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Industrial Engineering, Business, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in master scheduling, production planning, or supply planning
- Experience in a manufacturing environment
- Strong working knowledge of ERP / MRP systems
- Advanced Excel and analytical problem-solving skills
- Strong communication skills and the ability to influence cross-functional partners
Preferred
- Experience in a vehicle (e.g. Automotive, RV, Heavy Truck, etc.) OEM organization
- Exposure to S&OP / IBP processes
- APICS certification (CPIM, CSCP)
- Experience with APS or advanced planning tools
