The ideal candidate will possess deep, demonstrated technical leadership in Software and Hardware Automated Tests. This critical role involves defining the long-term architectural vision, optimizing, and establishing the standards for the automated testing infrastructure for RISC-V embedded software/hardware validation across various SiFive Hardware Products using Pre-Silicon environments like QEMU, FPGA, and RTL Simulator. The Staff SDET will drive cross-functional collaboration with Software and Hardware Development teams to integrate validation efforts, ensuring comprehensive system quality and overseeing issue triage and management. This position is located in Hsinchu, Taiwan.
Responsibilities:
Define the strategic roadmap and technical standards for CI/CD pipelines, driving adoption and scaling across multiple product lines to maximize stability and execution efficiency.
Serve as the primary architect for the Python automated test framework, driving its long-term evolution to support large-scale, highly distributed pre-silicon and post-silicon validation needs.
Act as the principal technical coordinator between Software, Hardware, and DevOps teams to resolve complex cross-functional technical challenges and mitigate systemic quality risks.
Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior and senior SDETs, raising the overall technical excellence of the team.
Lead the evaluation and adoption of new verification technologies and methodologies to address future scaling and complexity needs in embedded systems.
Champion the system-level quality culture across the engineering organization, translating high-level business goals into measurable technical objectives for the SDET team.
Requirements:
6+ years of experience in software engineering or test automation, with at least 3 years focused on architecting or leading high-scale test infrastructure in embedded systems.
Deep expertise in CI/CD environments (e.g., Jenkins, or GitHub Actions) and build systems (Make, CMake, or Yocto). Demonstrated success in solving chronic, large-scale CI/CD performance and stability issues.
Expert-level proficiency in Python and Bash. Demonstrated experience in designing and delivering large-scale, distributed, and highly resilient automation systems.
Expert knowledge of the Linux development environment, including advanced system-level debugging and performance analysis tools.
In-depth working knowledge of embedded software stack (Bootloader, Kernel, Drivers). Deep domain expertise in RISC-V architecture, CPU verification methodologies, or custom hardware verification.
Proven experience in software validation using hardware simulation environments (QEMU, FPGA, or RTL Simulators).
Must possess exceptional interpersonal and communication skills. Demonstrated ability to influence technical decisions across organizational boundaries and drive consensus among senior stakeholders.
