Position Summary:
The Senior Accountant is responsible for comprehensive accounting processes and systems including preparing journal entries, cash management, budgeting and forecasting, customer invoicing, account and bank reconciliations, and reviewing work products of team members. This position also includes preparing financial reports, analyzing trends, explaining variances, presenting reports to others and making recommendations based on results and trends. Provide services in an ethical, legal, and moral manner, consistent with applicable regulatory and accreditation standards.
Qualifications/Basic Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business or a related field required; higher education or equivalent training and experience preferred
- Possess a valid CPA (Certified Public Accountant) license or Master's Degree in Business, Accounting, or related field
- Demonstrated advanced knowledge and proven experience in accounting principles and controls, financial analysis, and compliance with regulatory standards
- Experience in the Behavior Health industry or Not-for-Profit sector preferred • Ability to prepare and present financial information
- Capability to work independently while actively collaborating within a team environment • Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize tasks, manage time efficiently, and maintain meticulous attention to detail
- Competence in using ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) software and common computer applications such as word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software

Essential Responsibilities
- Work hours prescribed by leadership and any additional hours deemed necessary to complete assigned responsibilities.
- Prepare GAAP-compliant journal entries, including accruals, the maintain accurate financial record
- Manage banking and cash activities, to include monthly reconciliations.
- Conduct account reconciliations and reviews to ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data.
- Prepare monthly financial statements and reports.
- Review program financials for appropriate revenue recognition.
- Analyze financial information and present insights to leadership and internal stakeholders, including making informed recommendations based on results and trends. 8. Prepare and review invoices, including monthly grant invoicing.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly reports specifically tailored for funders, ensuring accuracy and timely submission to meet reporting deadlines.
- Prepare utilization reports for management, detailing resource allocation and usage to support strategic decision making and operational efficiency.
- Assist in the annual budgeting process and prepare necessary schedule to support accurate financial planning and analysis.
- Assist in cash flow and financial forecasting processes
- Support the measurement and reporting of financial metrics.
- Compile audits schedules as required to ensure comprehensive audit readiness and compliance.
- Prepare year-end cost reports and close out schedules.
- Participate in team projects, including leading initiatives, and actively contribute as a member of the Finance team by attending all meetings and engaging in team activities.
- Provide backup support to the Controller and Staff Accountants as required, ensuring continuity in financial operations.
- Engage in continuing education on GAAP principles, best practices, and software systems to maintain proficiency and enhance expertise in financial operations.
- Exercise confidentiality in keeping with the Code of Ethics and with the framework of the law.
- Deliver exceptional customer service consistently to every customer.
- Serve as a role model for other staff, patients, and customers and demonstrate positive guest relations in representing Rosecrance
- Assume other related responsibilities as assigned by leadership.
Physical Requirements/Percentage of Work Time
- Vision: Must be able to read printed and/or handwritten materials from a variety of sources (75- 100%)
- Hearing: Must be able to hear well enough to communicate with coworkers, vendors and other customers (75-100%); answer incoming phone calls (0-24%)
- Standing/Walking/Mobility: Must have mobility between departments within the facility and within outside facilities (50-79%),
- Climbing/Stooping/Kneeling: (0-24%)
- Lifting/Pulling/Pushing: Must exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 5 pounds of force frequently to lift or move objects (25-49%)
- Fingering/Grasping/Feeling: Must be able to finger keyboard for computer work and phone equipment for placing/receiving calls (75-100%)
- Sitting: must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time when using the computer (75-100%)
Schedule
- Hours: Monday-Friday 8:30am-5pm
Work Location: Onsite- Rosecrance RMG-Chicagoland (Des Plaines, IL)
- Work Mode: 5 days remote option for the last 2 weeks of the month
Compensation:
(Based on education, experience and credentials)
- Starting salary for Bachelors + CPA (Chicago): $103,000/year
- Starting salary for Masters (Chicago): $109,000/year
