Overview
We're hiring a part-time Medical Assistant in Riverview, FL to support our Academic Alliance in Dermatology office in Riverview, FL. This role offers hands-on patient care, procedural assisting, EMR documentation, and the opportunity to work directly alongside a dermatology provider in a fast-paced clinical environment.
We welcome candidates with experience as a Medical Assistant, Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), CNA, Patient Care Technician, or other direct patient care backgrounds who are eager to grow in dermatology.
Schedule: Part-Time | 10-Hour Shifts
- Monday, Wednesday, Friday: 8:00 AM - 6:30 PM
- One Thursday per month: 8:00 AM - 6:30 PM at our Tampa (Habana) office

Responsibilities
Medical Assistant Responsibilities
- Room patients and obtain vital signs, medical history, medication reconciliation, and reason for visit
- Prepare patients for examination and assist providers during dermatology visits and procedures
- Accurately document patient encounters in the electronic medical record (EMA / ModMed)
- Assist with in-office dermatology procedures including biopsies, excisions, cryotherapy, injections, wound care, and specimen collection
- Prepare exam rooms, trays, instruments, and supplies for clinic and procedures
- Label, process, and route pathology specimens appropriately
- Clean and sterilize instruments in accordance with infection control standards
- Educate patients on treatment plans, medications, wound care instructions, and follow-up care
- Support efficient clinic flow by keeping providers on schedule and assisting with patient throughput
- Complete patient callbacks, prescription tasks, prior authorizations, and chart preparation as needed
- Cross-support front office operations when needed
- Travel occasionally between clinic locations as needed
Qualifications
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Completion of a Medical Assistant program, Certified Nursing Assistant program, or equivalent clinical patient care experience preferred
- Current CPR certification preferred
- 1+ year of recent experience as a Medical Assistant, Certified Medical Assistant, CNA, Patient Care Technician, or similar clinical role preferred
- Previous dermatology experience preferred, but not required
- Comfortable assisting with hands-on medical procedures
- Strong multitasking, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume clinical environment
- Electronic medical record (EMR) experience preferred; ModMed / EMA experience is a plus
- Reliable transportation required due to occasional travel between locations
Licensure/Certifications/Education
Physical Requirements
- Standing and walking for extended periods throughout the day
- Frequent bending, twisting, reaching, and movement between patient rooms
- Ability to use hands and fingers for clinical procedures and patient care tasks
- Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds
- Exposure to sharps, chemicals, and infectious materials in a medical setting
