As a Graduate Ports and Maritime Civil/Structural Engineer, you will join our specialist team, looking at complex and technically demanding maritime engineering problems within the Nuclear and Defence industries. Each of our projects is unique, but typically involves consideration of the interaction between ports, harbour and coastal structures and the marine environment.  

The key challenges associated with the design, assessment and appraisal of marine infrastructure typically includes the consideration of vessel berthing and mooring loads on structures, the influence of tides, waves and currents as well as the impacts of sea level rise and the corrosive effects of seawater on steel and reinforced concrete structures. As a result of the environment within which our projects are located, our work remains varied and interesting, keeping the engineering challenges fresh and exciting.

We are looking for candidates who:  

• Have completed an undergraduate or master’s degree (MEng Civil/Structural Engineering) level qualification in a relevant subject by summer 2026. 

And with the following Key Skills & Attributes: 

• Ability to work effectively within a team but also independently. 
• Organisation & Time Management: Ability to juggle multiple tasks and meet deadlines. 
• Eager to take ownership, ask questions, and seek out opportunities to grow.

You must be:

• A flexible self-starter, who is keen to drive their career forward.   
• Adaptable to change, with a thirst for learning new things.   
• Have the permanent right to work in the UK.   

Our Graduate Programme assumes that participants are commencing their first professional role post-graduation. To qualify for our Graduate Programme, you must therefore have: 

• Completed your first degree no earlier than the summer of 2024.  
• Not worked in a similar professional role since graduation. 
• Achieved a minimum 2:2 in your first degree.

Step 2: Those who are selected will be invited to interview with our operations teams either online or in-person. Please note will be short written technical questions during the interview.

Step 3: Selected candidates will be offered an opportunity to join Amentum Graduate Programme in September 2026.
