Job Summary: As a Special Projects Producer you will produce, write, and coordinate interviews and shoots for biweekly Targeted Special Reports and occasional 30-minute or 60-minute special broadcasts. This position plays a key role in the planning, development, and execution of high-impact, in-depth news segments that address specific issues relevant to the community. The Special Projects Producer works closely with reporters, photographers, editors, and other news staff to create compelling and informative content that aligns with the station’s goals and vision.
Job Responsibilities:
Assist in researching and assigning Targeted Special Reports, offering story ideas and maintaining the Special Projects calendar.
Write special report package scripts, request appropriate graphics and pre-production, and work with graphics/production department.
Shoot and edit video occasionally.
Research news, monitor video news feeds, and make needed phone calls to obtain information for stories.
Build special newscast lineups, organize stories, determine amount of time and treatment for each and stay in contact with reporters to get status of their stories.
Write news stories, teases, and promos, proofread reporter packages for content and grammar ensuring news meets legal and journalistic standards as well as the time allotted.
Create engaging digital content for distribution across various platforms, including social media.
Work with editors on video requests
Schedule and conduct interviews with key individuals, experts, and community members. Work with photographers and reporters to organize shoots for both field and in-studio productions and ensure all aspects of the special projects are executed seamlessly and align with station standards.
Stay informed on local issues, trends, and topics of interest to develop compelling stories and content for special projects.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned, including driving an automobile for company business.
Job Schedule: This is a full-time position primarily working 40 hours per week. You may also be called upon at times to fill in other hours and days of the week to help cover vacations, illnesses, breaking news, severe weather, or special projects/events. This position is not eligible to work remotely.

Skills and Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or related field preferred. Related experience will be evaluated and may be substituted as years of education.
3-5 years of experience in a television newsroom preferred. Proven experience in producing news segments or long-format programming in a broadcast environment is a plus.
Ability to shoot and edit video, or willingness to learn is preferred. Familiarity with news production software and editing tools is a plus.
Strong scriptwriting and storytelling skills.
Excellent organizational and project management abilities.
Ability to work under tight deadlines and adapt to fast-paced news environments.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams.
Knowledge of local issues and community interests in Oklahoma including history and geography is a plus. Understanding of local, state, and national politics.
Link of work and writing samples required.
Must have, or be able to obtain, a valid Oklahoma driver’s license and have a driving record acceptable to the company.
Ability to perform other job-related duties as assigned.
