Intern - Project Engineer (Mechanical)
Location: Kilkenny
Hybrid/Onsite: Onsite
Working Pattern (Time/Hours): Monday-Friday, 8.30am-5.30pm
Overview of the role:
As part of our Project Delivery team , you will be working on a number of engineering activities on a specific project or multiple projects dependent on capacity, size and complexity. Projects will include working on a variety of projects related to WasteWater Treatment Plants and Fresh Water Treatment Plants. The day to day roles will vary depending on the scope of the projects and you will be supporting the Project Manager in the delivery of the projects through design and construction.
Duties of the Role include;
Support Project Engineers and Project Managers in the delivery of assigned projects while developing core engineering skills.
Build and develop my understanding of contract requirements and client specifications.
Assist with client and client representative communications under the guidance and supervision of senior staff.
Communicate and collaborate with a multi-disciplined engineering team throughout design and delivery stages of assigned projects.
Support design activities, equipment selection and procurement processes, gaining hands-on experience along the way.
Learn to organise and coordinate design activities while maintaining H&S standards in line with Veolia requirements.
Assist in monitoring project progress against budgets and timelines, developing my commercial awareness.
Learn and apply company procedures related to contract execution.
Safety and Compliance: Support the planning and management of construction activities while learning the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental management including H&S audits, incident investigations, and construction-phase plan compliance.
Assist in coordinating site activities, supporting the setting of persons to work to VMR standards, and learning how plant equipment inspection processes are managed.
Assist in reviewing third-party methodologies (RAMS/SSOW) and support the management of subcontractor performance, quality logs, and defect resolution. Maintain familiarity with project documentation and assist the site team and project manager with progress reporting, including weekly 3-week look-ahead reports for the client.
Develop an understanding of commercial project management, dispute resolution, and PSCS duties carried out on site.
Required skills for this role;
Studying a Mechanical Engineering Degree
Ability to work on own initiative and effectively manage & coordinate design /site activities
IT skills such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, Power Point
Good organisational and time management skills
Self-motivated
Strong communication and writing skills
