- Perform all functions of Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Management with minimal supervision.
- Develop and maintain EHS policies that comply with or exceed applicable federal, state, and local regulations, while continuously monitoring and evaluating new or emerging environmental and safety requirements to determine their relevance and impact on company operations.
- Collaborate with all divisions to achieve full regulatory compliance and maintain open communication regarding compliance-related concerns.
- Develop, implement, and coordinate environmental, health, and safety programs to support company initiatives.
- Provide leadership to and facilitate meetings with various committees related to EHS initiatives.
- Serve as the primary liaison with regulatory agencies including OSHA, EPA, and relevant state authorities.
- Maintain company-wide health and safety data/metrics and generate reports to benchmark and measure EHS performance.
- Oversee waste management, air emissions, chemical storage, spill prevention, and other environmental compliance activities.
- Maintain required Environmental Compliance permits and ensure timely reporting- Ensure annual compliances such as OSHA 300 logs, Tier II Biennial filing of Hazardous & Residual Waste, Act 220 Water consumption, Toxic Release Inventory filings are accurate and filed in a timely manner to avoid violations
- Lead sustainability and environmental improvement initiatives to reduce the organization’s environmental impact.
- Ensure all required OSHA safety and environmental training meets current standards and is completed within established timeframes.
- Maintain documentation for all regulatory initiatives, including training records, policies, schedules, revisions, incident investigations and waste manifests
- Conduct regular audits of divisional environmental and safety programs and provide guidance to achieve company-standard compliance.
- Perform Job Safety/hazard Analysis on an as needed basis- report and implement the safety items to eliminate potential catastrophic hazards
- Oversee the workers’ compensation program and coordinate with HR to:
- Maintain accurate documentation & Conduct incident investigations
- Coordinate medical care for injured employees & Manage return‑to‑work initiatives
- Communicate EHS initiatives, milestones, events, and expectations to the organization through written and verbal channels.
- Continuously research innovative methods to reduce workplace accidents and injuries and cost benefit ideas for different projects
- Other duties as assigned
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
- Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field preferred.
- 2-5 years of EHS background with hands-on work in manufacturing/ industrial environment
- Understands regulations and communicates requirements clearly across the organization.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact and build rapport with individuals at all levels of the company.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office including - Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft suites - Excel, & inventory systems)
- Time management and multitasking
- Clear communication with operations teams
- Problem-solving and proactive planning
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to operate a computer and related office equipment.
- Visual acuity suitable for detailed work.
- Ability to lift 50-75 lbs., floor to shoulder, occasionally and climb ladders.
