POSITION SUMMARY The Director, FP&A plays a critical role in providing financial insights, analysis, and support to drive strategic decision-making and optimize performance. Reporting directly to the VP of FP&A, the Director has a strong background in finance, exceptional analytical and communication skills, and experience in the retail sector.
Compensation listed is a starting point only and will be determined based on candidate experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES • People Management: Leads, develops, and mentors a team of FP&A professionals, building strong capability in financial analysis, business partnering, and strategic thinking while fostering a high-performance, collaborative culture. • Management Reporting: Lead the preparation and distribution of weekly and periodic performance measurement materials to various stakeholders, including Management and Board of Director presentations, highlighting insights into results and key drivers of variances to Budget and LY. • Financial Analysis: Conduct analysis of P&L results to understand and provide insights on drivers and trends of KPI’s and strategic initiatives, and identify potential risks and opportunities on the horizon. • Business Support: Directly support the Operations team in analyzing their financial results as well as decision-making support to enable each area to meet or exceed Budget expectations. • Budgeting and Forecasting: Lead the annual Budget and quarterly Forecast processes including co-ordination of deliverables, timelines and required templates, as well as be an integral part of target setting and alignment to strategic initiatives. • Strategic Planning: Provide financial insights and support to senior management in retail strategy development, including store expansion plans, store closures, and market penetration strategies. • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline financial processes, improve efficiency and enhance the quality of financial reporting and analysis. Utilize AI as a tool to facilitate process improvements. • Ad-Hoc Analysis: Conduct ad-hoc financial analysis and projects as required, providing actionable insights and recommendations to support retail initiatives and strategic decision-making.
QUALIFICATIONS • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field (CPA, MBA or advanced degree preferred). • Proven experience (10+ years) in financial planning and analysis, with a focus on retail operations and merchandising.
SKILLS • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and retail performance metrics. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with remote teams. • Experience in the retail sector, with a deep understanding of retail-specific financial metrics and analysis techniques. • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Powerpoint, financial modeling, and AI tools • Experience with Microstrategy or Vena a plus. • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced retail environment. • Proactive mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement and driving results in a retail setting.
