The Trades Assistant is responsible for working across a single site to fulfil the ongoing general maintenance needs of our workplace, including preventative maintenance, services and minor repairs of our equipment, plant and buildings. You will also have the opportunity to assist our experienced technicians with major repairs where appropriate and to build on your existing skills. We require someone with the right attitude, flexibility, able to work within a team and to contribute to all areas of the business when needed.
The trades assistant shifts are Monday to Friday alternating one week of days 6:00 am - 2:00 pm and one week of afternoons 12:30 pm - 8:00 pm with one Saturday a month.
What You’ll Do (key responsibilities)
This role offers a broad scope, with key responsibilities including:
Manage Downer (EH) assets, conducting daily checks and maintenance (General Maintenance).
Communicate with maintenance staff for repairs for various equipment / asset types.
Respond to requests from Building Services Supervisor and Operations Manager, aiding with the experienced Maintenance Teams on specific assets.
Utilise various documents and websites for asset information and maintenance, including QFM, MobileView, and Microsoft Office programs.
Operate general machines and the use of equipment including power tools, pallet jacks and other related maintenance equipment
Handle QFM jobs.
Deliver/collect data / information for reports.
Review and procure of critical spares within Maintenance team
Stock verification and stock control and coordinating of frequential stock takes
Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders for effective asset maintenance.
What You’ll Bring (experience required)
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in maintenance or handyman roles (Health Care setting preferred)
The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of general repairs / maintenance, tools, and materials
Certificate or trade qualification (preferred).
Proficient in Microsoft skills, in particular Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook
Advanced SharePoint, Power BI & Power Automate highly regarded.
Knowledge of OHS regulations and safe handling of hazardous materials.
Attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship
Good communication and teamwork skills.
