This role plays a key part in ensuring our organization consistently meets customer requirements through an effective and compliant Quality Management System (QMS). The successful candidate will support and monitor adherence to ISO 9001 standards, helping to maintain and continuously improve quality practices across the business. This position contributes to key initiatives, supports strategic objectives, and influences quality performance throughout Irving Shipbuilding, ensuring alignment with both customer expectations and organizational goals.
- Lead and support internal audits in the business to ensure compliance to ISO 9001.
- Lead and support training of audit-lites in the business.
- Support external audits- acting as an audit guide, compiling objective evidence, and being the point of contact.
- Oversee nonconformities, corrective actions, recommendation for improvements, and observations through the appropriate stages ensuring stakeholders have the support required for timely actions and closure.
- Review quality data, identify trends, patterns, anomalies and make recommendations regarding indicators related to changes in quality levels throughout the business.
- Act as a Quality guide- supporting business functions with non-conformance reports, developing process documentation, how to effectively use quality management systems.
- Act as the customer liaison for the customer point of contact depending on the program- ensuring audit schedule, non-conformances, etc are clearly communicated and actioned.
- Bachelor’s degree, preferable in Engineering or related field.
- A combination of education and experience would be considered.
- Demonstrated ability to apply quality management knowledge in heavy manufacturing environment, typically gained over 5-8 years of work experience.
- Demonstrated experience to apply practical knowledge of quality audits, make recommendations for improvement and writing audit reports.
- Knowledge of quality management systems and best practices.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to manage different stakeholders.
