

Job Summary:
The Department of Neurosurgery at the University of Colorado School of Medicine (CU-SOM) has a full-time clinical faculty position available for an Advanced Practice Provider. The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will be a clinical faculty member of the CU-SOM, entering at either the level of Instructor of Clinical Practice or Senior Instructor of Clinical Practice. This position encompasses inpatient medical care services for patients suffering from a wide range of neurosurgical disorders (including intra-cranial tumors, neuro-endocrine tumors, intracranial trauma, CSF dynamics disorders, CNS cancers, Peripheral nerve injuries/disorders). As a faculty member of the CU-SOM, opportunities for professional development may include precept of medical learners, education of nursing and medical staff, participation in quality and safety improvement projects, clinical research projects, and mentoring residents and junior Advanced Practice Providers.
The Neuro ICU is building an APP team with a goal of 24/7 coverage of ICU level patients. Responsibilities of the APP position include primary patient care of hospitalized neurosurgical and neurological patients in the Neuro ICU. The APP will work closely with other members of the Neurosurgery service including attendings, APPs, and residents.

Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
This is an open rank position and could be categorized as Instructor of clinical Practice or Senior Instructor of Clinical Practice based on experience and qualifications as indicated below:
Instructor of Clinical Practice:
· Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a Master’s degree in Advanced Practice Nursing (Acute Care NP) or a graduate of an accredited program in Physician Assistant Studies
· Current active license to practice in the state of Colorado as an Advanced Practice Nurse or Physician Assistant. Prescriptive authority is required.
· Currently credentialed as an APN or PA by the appropriate national certifying body.
Senior Instructor of Clinical Practice:
· Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a Master’s degree in Advanced Practice Nursing (Acute Care NP) or a graduate of an accredited program in Physician Assistant Studies
· Current active license to practice in the state of Colorado as an Advanced Practice Nurse or Physician Assistant. Prescriptive authority is required.
· Currently credentialed as an APN or PA by the appropriate national certifying body.
Preferred Qualifications:
· At least 2 years of experience in intensive care setting
· Proficiency in ICU bedside procedures (arterial lines, central venous catheters, chest tube placement, intubation, etc.) and strong desire to master ICU and Neurosurgical bedside procedures
· Experience in surgical subspecialty
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
· Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally
· Proven ability to care for high acuity, high complexity patients in fast-paced ICU setting
· Desire to learn and perform procedures appropriate in the Neuro-ICU setting
· Ability to work individually and as a team to support team-based medical care in an APP/Physician/Resident Physician model

Anticipated Pay Range:
The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:
Instructor of Clinical Practice: $112,400 - $130,800
Senior Instructor of Clinical Practice: $130,800 - $149,200
The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
