A primary function is supervising Site Supervisor and Cleaning staff during the Facilities Manager's absence. Responsibilities include the opening and closing of premises for routine use, lettings, and emergency services, and regularly checking alarms and fire equipment to ensure emergency exits are not obscured.
The role requires managing lettings, undertaking minor repairs to fixtures and fittings, and inspecting and reporting all major defects (including electrical, gas, plumbing, and building issues) to the Facilities Manager. Furthermore, the supervisor accepts deliveries, maintains outdoor areas (including clearing snow and ice), and assists the Facilities Manager in implementing Portable Appliance Testing and the risk management programme for Legionella.
Essential requirements include experience in managing or supervising direct line reports and extensive experience of general building and site maintenance. Candidates must have the ability to undertake basic repairs and demonstrate good time management and organisation skills, including the ability to oversee the work of others. Effective communication with a wide range of audiences is essential.
The successful applicant must possess an understanding of academy child safeguarding procedures and be willing to obtain or enhance qualifications and training relevant to Health and Safety and site maintenance. Experience of working in a school environment is desirable, as are NVQ 1 and 2 in Cleaning and Support Services or equivalent. A satisfactory DBS check is required.
