Assistant Service Manager (Learning and Research Services)/Library Assistant I (Learning and Research Services) (at the rank of Executive Officer/Library Assistant I) in the University Libraries (Ref.: 535068)   We are seeking a highly motivated candidate to join our Learning and Research Services team to provide quality learning and research support at the University Libraries.   The Role   Reporting to the Associate Librarian (Learning and Research Services), the appointee will provide research data and scholarly communication services and perform other duties as follows:   • Plan, provide, and develop research data services, including but not limited to monitoring and handling regular dataset submissions and deposits on the University’s data repository (HKU DataHub), maintaining and developing data management plan submission workflow, and handling relevant enquiries.   • Advocate open science culture within and beyond the University through service provision, education, and outreach efforts, informed by trends in the greater open science movement.   • Provide bibliometrics and research impact services.   • Develop asynchronous learning materials, deliver trainings and workshops, and participate in campaigns and events to publicize Libraries’ services, promote information literacy, and provide support in scholarly communications.   • Supervise support staff to provide quality service.   • Perform other duties as assigned, such as information services and subject services.   Qualifications and Qualities   Applicants should possess:   • a bachelor’s degree in information science/librarianship OR an advanced degree relevant to the position;   • at least 3 years’ post-qualification experience;   • hands-on experience in research support in an academic environment;   • sound knowledge and understanding on a broad variety of topics in scholarly communications, including but not limited to research data management, open access, and research metrics;   • strong organizational, time management and project management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple concurrent tasks;   • strong written and oral communication skills in English and Chinese (Cantonese and Putonghua); and   • strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively and innovatively with library colleagues, the University community at large, and external communities.   Applicants with less professional experience in research support may be considered for appointment at the rank of Library Assistant I.   What we offer   The appointment will be made on fixed-term full-time contract for 2 years, to commence as soon as possible with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance.  A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, together with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme at 10% of basic salary.  Other benefits include annual leave and medical benefits.   How to apply   The University only accepts online applications for the above post.  Applicants should apply online and upload an up-to-date CV.
