REPORTS TO: Parks & Cemetery Supervisor LOCATION: Initial Placement – Paris Parks
Minimum Qualifications:
Secondary school education
Demonstrated knowledge of grounds maintenance and related equipment
Good knowledge of facility maintenance practices and procedures
Knowledge of sports field, trail and general parks maintenance
Good communication skills relating to other staff members and the general public
Good interpersonal and records management skills
General repair experience as it relates to mechanics, plumbing, carpentry, etc.
Good safe work practices
Current First aid, CPR and AED training
Valid Class G driver’s licence and acceptable driver’s abstract
Acceptable police records check
Assets:
Sports Turf Management and maintenance certification
Knowledge of commercial pool operations
Horticultural or Arborist background
Post-secondary education in a recreation or horticultural field
Prior experience working in a municipal recreation facility and/or park setting
Chainsaw certification
Duties:
Active involvement in the operation and maintenance of parks, sports fields and trails outdoors in a variety of weather conditions
Daily review of rental and maintenance schedules to prepare areas for users and to maintain facilities to an acceptable standard
Active involvement in the care and maintenance of related equipment
Guidance and supervision of summer students and part time staff
Internal and external communication with staff, users, volunteers and event coordinators
Will be required to liaise with user/community groups during tournaments and special events
Ability to work a flexible schedule including day, evening and weekend shifts
Provide direct support to park users
Documentation of maintenance duties, rentals, daily routines, incident/accident forms, emergency services, health and safety practices
Other duties as assigned
Hourly Rate Range: $26.75 - $33.16 40 hours/week (days, evenings, weekends) Duration: May – November
