Priory Hospital Mildmay Oaks
is looking to recruit a Catering Assistant to join the team. This is a full time role of 37.5 hours a week.
Set in a semi-rural location in Hook, Hampshire, Priory Hospital Mildmay Oaks supports the NHS by providing low secure services and level 2 rehabilitation services for both male and female patients. This includes a specialist learning disability and autism spectrum support.
We also offer adult and child and adolescent mental health services (CAMHS), and single-person, bespoke therapeutic placements (BTPs) across our hospital.
What you'll be doing
You’ll be part of a dedicated and compassionate team, all working together to ensure the smooth running of the hospital and to support the wellbeing of our patients. While your role doesn’t involve providing direct care, your contribution is vital in helping to maintain a safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment for everyone. Whether you're assisting with day-to-day operations, keeping things organised, or ensuring our spaces are well looked after, your support plays an important part in creating a positive experience for those who live and work here.
- Assists catering staff with both the preparation and cooking of meals in accordance with the company’s Assured Safe Catering policies and procedures.
- Under direction, takes responsibility for parts of the catering operation.
- As part of the catering team, the role holder will be required to ensure the kitchen and associated areas meet operational hygiene standards and comply with the company’s Assured Safe Catering policies and procedures.
- Amends the services to suit the needs of the site.
- Reduce the amount of waste to gain a greater value for money.

What you'll bring to the role

The ideal candidate will possess basic numeracy and literacy skills, along with an understanding of basic food hygiene principles. Previous experience within a catering environment is not essential, as full training will be provided. The role also requires the ability to respond to routine enquiries from colleagues and, on occasion, residents in a professional and approachable manner.
