Position Overview:
The Sr. Director of Supply Chain and Procurement is responsible for the strategic direction, oversight, and optimization of all procurement, sourcing, contracting, and supply chain operations. This individual will be responsible for developing and executing supply chain strategies that ensure cost efficiency, operational continuity, regulatory compliance, and high-quality clinical support for physician practices and surgical centers. This role is highly cross-functional and partners closely with Finance, Operations, Clinical Leadership, and Surgery Center Administrators to align supply chain strategy with organizational growth and clinical excellence. The overall goals of the Operations and Supply Chain function are to drive cost optimization, ensure product standardization, strengthen vendor partnerships, support de novo expansion and acquisitions, and maintain uninterrupted supply availability across all orthopaedic sites.
Responsibilities:
- Lead enterprise-wide supply chain and procurement strategy for orthopaedic practices, ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs), and affiliated clinical operations
- Oversee sourcing, contracting, negotiation, and vendor management for implants, biologics, surgical supplies, and capital equipment
- Develop and implement standardized procurement processes across all locations to improve efficiency, compliance, and cost control
- Partner with physicians and clinical leadership to manage Physician Preference Items (PPI) programs and drive product standardization initiatives
- Manage relationships with key vendors and distributors to ensure optimal pricing, service levels, and supply continuity
- Analyze spend data and utilization trends to identify cost savings opportunities and support value-based decision making
- Oversee inventory management strategies including par levels, forecasting, and optimization across multiple facilities
- Lead contract negotiations and ensure compliance with all regulatory, legal, and internal governance requirements
- Support new practice integrations, acquisitions, and ASC onboarding from a supply chain and procurement perspective
- Develop KPIs and dashboards to monitor supply chain performance, cost trends, and vendor performance
- Collaborate with Finance and Operations teams to support budgeting, forecasting, and cost containment initiatives
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, accreditation standards, and industry best practices
- Evaluate and implement supply chain technologies and automation opportunities to improve visibility and efficiency
- Provide leadership, mentorship, and development to supply chain and procurement staff
- Perform other duties or special projects as assigned
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Finance, Healthcare Administration, or related field required; Master’s degree preferred
- 8+ years of progressive experience in supply chain, procurement, or strategic sourcing; 5+ years in a leadership role
- Experience in healthcare supply chain management required, preferably within orthopaedics, MSO, ASC, or hospital systems
- Strong experience managing physician preference items (PPI), implants, and surgical supply contracting
- Proven track record of negotiating complex vendor agreements and driving cost savings initiatives
- Experience supporting multi-site or multi-state healthcare operations
Preferred Qualifications & Skills:
- Experience in orthopaedics, surgical specialties, or procedural healthcare environments strongly preferred
- Strong financial acumen with ability to analyze spend, margins, and cost structures
- Experience with supply chain systems, procurement platforms, or ERP tools (e.g., Workday, NetSuite, SAP, or similar)
- Demonstrated ability to build and scale supply chain functions in a growing or acquisition-driven organization
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and vendor management skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, evolving MSO environment
- High attention to detail with strong organizational and data integrity standards
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with physicians and executive leadership
- On-site presence required at the Tampa-area headquarters
