Maintenance Technician III – Soaring Eagle Waterpark & Hotel
Position Summary:
The Maintenance Technician III will be responsible for major & minor repairs and maintenance of hotel and guest rooms to ensure quality, cleanliness, guest satisfaction, safety and security standards are achieved and maintained as established by the Soaring Eagle Waterpark & Hotel (SEWPH). This position also maintains the Waterpark to provide a safe, efficient, and effective facility for the enjoyment and comfort of guests. When assigned, the Maintenance Technician III will assist Pool Operator with the daily waterpark operations, cleaning, and maintenance of all pools and rides while adhering to all safety regulations. Although SEWPH an enterprise of the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe of Michigan, it operates under the Migizi Economic Development Company Policies and Procedures.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance and scheduled maintenance throughout the SEWPH campus, as well as other properties as assigned
- Performs assigned duties while maintaining behaviors aligned with Migizi Guest Service Standards.
- Perform daily adjustments to in-house plumbing, electrical, refrigeration, kitchen equipment, and Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning systems (HVAC) and waterpark boiler systems; including repair and/or replacement of air conditioning units and ice machines.
- Perform minor repairs and/or replacements of room furniture, fixtures, and equipment to include televisions, light fixtures, etc.
- Perform duties outlined in Preventative Maintenance program.
- Protect company assets by properly securing tools, equipment, and supplies.
- Report requests for major repairs to the Director of Facilities, and/or Pool Operator in accordance with SEWPH procedures.
- Respond to guest requests for immediate repairs.
- Responsible for programming guest room locks, TVs, safes, thermostats, and other electronic devices.
- Perform work duties in accordance with SEWPH Safety and Security Policies & Procedures as well as in accordance with posted OSHA, EPA, HazMat, and Blood Borne Pathogen regulations.
- Report and store lost and found items in accordance with SEWPH procedures.
- Checks and makes major repairs to HVAC and refrigeration equipment on the Metasystem computer program
- Checks and makes major repairs to plumbing systems and fixtures such as pipe line, toilets and sinks, kitchen and laundry equipment.
- Ensures that all equipment is functioning properly and that preventative maintenance measures are performed to preserve the hotel and keep product quality to standards established by the Soaring Eagle Waterpark & Hotel.
- Monitors mechanical, electrical, and water usages to ensure effective energy management.
- Responds in a courteous manner to guest questions, complaints and/or requests to ensure guest satisfaction.
- Responsible for maintaining all facilities within the waterpark, including but not limited to: water quality, filtration, air handling, chemical disinfection, and circulation systems with its associated equipment; maintenance of water attractions, lighting, structures, furniture and fixtures, electrical, and plumbing.
- Responsible for all maintenance service requests, inspections and adjustments assigned by the Director of Facilities, and/or Pool Operator.
- Perform a wide variety of general maintenance repairs and services for the waterpark.
- Assist with the scheduling and overseeing of all outside vendors repair work and service contracts, including snow removal.
- Thorough working knowledge of computers, large H.V.A.C equipment, air balancing, plumbing, electrical, and all disciplines required to maintain the operations.
- Maintain and maximize energy efficiency of building complex.
- Responsible for the management and supervision of all building systems and adjustments, as well as kitchen equipment.
- Responsible for executing test mode on the alarm panel, as well as silencing the alarm panel for service work or outside venders.
- Must be available to work weekends, evenings, and holidays.
- All other duties as assigned.
Work Environment/Safety Hazards:
Standard: A significant portion of the workday is spent lifting, moving, climbing, crawling, and holding. Carrying and/or lifting items that weigh approximately 100 lbs. Team pushing and/or pulling objects such as televisions, furniture, etc. that weigh approximately 300 lbs. occur at times. Reading and writing abilities are utilized in order to document or record all tasks completed, order supplies, receive instructions for the day, or to read equipment repair manuals. Problem solving and reasoning abilities are utilized occasionally. This position requires observation or sensation to fix electrical problems. Mathematical abilities, including basic math, volume, weight, and percentages are utilized a significant portion of the time. Must work with chemicals, deliveries, storage and handling, SDS sheets, Personal Protection Equipment (PPE), and lifting of chemicals and sand. May experience exposure to water and vaporized chemicals and blood-borne spills caused by illnesses or injuries.
Waterpark: Required to frequently walk, stand, sit, and talk or hear. Occasionally required to use hands to find, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. Occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. including live rescue lifting and pulling guest up to safety. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Occasionally works near moving mechanical parts, pool mechanical systems and may be exposed to wet and dry conditions, fumes, toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud in the waterpark facility.
Minimum Qualifications:
Required:
- 18 years of age.
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- Two (2) years of maintenance experience
- Demonstrated competency with Migizi maintenance programs and protocols.
- Possess and maintain a valid Michigan driver’s license and Tribal driver’s license.
- Pre-employment background check.
- EPA, HVAC, and refrigeration certification.
Preferred:
- Journeyman status for electrician, journeyman status for carpenter, or licensed plumber.
- Certified Pool Operator or experience with commercial pools.
- Native American.
