The Maintenance Engineer, Automation & Controls is responsible for supporting, maintaining, and optimizing PLC-based control systems across Powertrain manufacturing equipment. This role ensures stable machine operation, enables integration with MES and plant networks, and provides advanced troubleshooting for electrical and control systems to support production uptime and performance.
You Will:
- Develop, modify, and maintain PLC programs and HMI interfaces for manufacturing equipment
- Support commissioning and validation activities, including FAT and SAT
- Diagnose and resolve PLC, I/O, network, and electrical faults across production systems
- Maintain and update electrical control system architecture documentation, including schematics and program backups
- Support integration between equipment PLCs and MES systems for data tracking and traceability
- Implement control system improvements to enhance equipment reliability, efficiency, and uptime
- Collaborate with Automation Engineering and Maintenance teams to troubleshoot and resolve production issues
- Ensure compliance with industrial electrical and safety standards
You Will Work Closely With:
- Manufacturing Engineering – equipment design alignment and programming standards
- Automation Engineers – system debugging and continuous improvement initiatives
- Maintenance Technicians – day-to-day electrical troubleshooting and support
- IT / MES Teams – industrial network connectivity and data integration
- External Equipment Vendors – commissioning, debugging, and system sustainment
You Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field
- 3+ years of experience in PLC-based industrial automation within a manufacturing environment
- Experience supporting commissioning and startup of automated equipment
- Strong electrical troubleshooting and root-cause analysis capabilities
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with PLC platforms such as Siemens, Rockwell, or Beckhoff
- Knowledge of industrial communication protocols (Profinet, Ethernet/IP, Modbus)
- Experience with HMI and/or SCADA systems
- Understanding of electrical control panel design and architecture
- Experience with safety PLC systems and industrial safety standards
- Familiarity with data collection systems and MES integration
