Role: SAP Supply Chain Product Owner (Europe)
Role Summary
The SAP Supply Chain Product Owner owns and manages the Regional SAP Supply Chain solution landscape across Europe, with a focus on Production Planning (PP), Quality Management (QM), and Direct Procurement (MM).
The role supports regional rollouts, performs hands-on configuration, and acts as the key interface between Supply Chain business teams, IT, and external partners. It ensures stable operations, continuous improvement, and alignment with enterprise standards, while driving standardisation across multi-country environments.
Key Responsibilities
Product Ownership & Strategy
- Own the Regional SAP Supply Chain product across multiple European sites, covering PP, QM, and integrated production execution
- Define and manage product priorities aligned to business strategy and regional Supply Chain objectives
- Contribute to and shape the Digital Supply Chain roadmap, including standardisation and scalability across countries
- Ensure solutions remain scalable, compliant, standardised, and fit for purpose
- Align technology evolution with process maturity and future business needs
- Act as the final functional authority for Supply Chain processes and SAP solutions:
- Resolve cross-site conflicts
- Prioritise critical incidents
- Escalate risks to senior leadership and governance forums
Regional Rollout & Deployment
- Support and govern Regional SAP rollouts across Europe, including:
- Template adoption
- Localisation (e.g. regulatory, language, operational needs)
- Site onboarding
- Collaborate with rollout leads, IT teams, and system integrators to ensure business readiness
- Lead Key User training and enablement across countries
- Provide leadership during:
- Cutover
- Go-live
- Hypercare and stabilisation
- Ensure alignment to regional and global process standards
SAP Configuration & Solution Design
- Perform and maintain SAP configuration across:
- Production Planning (PP)
- Quality Management (QM)
- Direct Procurement (MM)
- Translate business requirements into functional designs and system solutions
- Review and validate deliverables from system integrators to ensure quality and compliance
- Support and design intercompany and intracompany business flows
- Act as the functional design authority for Supply Chain SAP solutions
- Ensure strong alignment between business processes and system behaviour
- Support integration with:
- Warehouse (EWM)
- Logistics and Transportation (TM)
- Manufacturing execution and shop floor systems
Stakeholder & Vendor Collaboration
- Act as the central interface between:
- Supply Chain & Quality business teams
- IT and architecture teams
- External SAP partners and service providers
- Lead cross-functional workshops to align on processes and solutions
- Ensure adherence to governance, documentation, and internal control frameworks
- Coordinate across multiple European countries and cultures
Backlog & Change Management
- Own and manage the product backlog:
- Enhancements
- Defects
- Change requests
- Prioritise based on business value, risk, and operational impact
- Oversee full lifecycle: requirement → design → build → test → deploy
- Balance innovation with system stability and production continuity
- Present and defend changes in Design Authority / governance boards
Continuous Improvement & Operations
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across Supply Chain processes
- Monitor system performance, adoption, and user experience across sites
- Lead Key User community engagement (e.g. forums, bi-weekly sessions)
- Capture plant feedback and translate into roadmap priorities
- Promote standardisation and best practices across the regional network
SAP Supply Chain & Digital Capabilities
- Strong expertise across SAP Supply Chain modules:
- PP (Production Planning)
- QM (Quality Management)
- MM (Materials Management / Procurement)
- Good understanding of integration with:
- EWM (Extended Warehouse Management)
- TM (Transportation Management)
- SD (Order-to-Cash processes)
- Experience with:
- MRP and advanced planning concepts
- Demand and supply planning
- Inventory management and optimisation
- Batch management and traceability
- Understanding of:
- Intercompany and cross-border supply chain flows
- European VAT and intra-community trade processes
- Strong knowledge of master data structures (materials, BOMs, routings, work centres)
SAP AI & Intelligent Supply Chain (preferred)
- Exposure to AI-driven planning and forecasting (e.g. demand sensing, predictive forecasting)
- Familiarity with SAP Integrated Business Planning (IBP) capabilities
- Understanding of predictive MRP and exception-based planning
- Experience with SAP Analytics Cloud for reporting, dashboards, and scenario modelling
- Awareness of SAP Business AI and embedded AI use cases in supply chain
- Exposure to automation using SAP Build Process Automation
- Understanding of emerging AI use cases:
- Inventory optimisation
- Supply chain risk prediction
- Automated insights and recommendations
- Scenario simulation and planning support
Key Stakeholders
- Regional Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and Quality teams (Key Users, Plant & SC Leadership)
- SAP Product Owners across other domains
- Technical and integration teams
- External SAP system integrators and service providers
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong SAP Supply Chain expertise, particularly PP and QM, with hands-on configuration
- Experience supporting regional or multi-site SAP rollouts in Europe
- Product ownership or functional leadership experience in SAP environments
- Strong backlog management, prioritisation, and governance experience
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
- Solid understanding of end-to-end Supply Chain and Quality processes
- Ability to operate in a multi-country, cross-cultural European environment
Preferred Experience
- Experience in multinational, multi-site manufacturing organisations
- Participation in ERP or digital Supply Chain transformation programmes
- Exposure to integrated manufacturing, warehouse, and logistics processes
- Experience working within structured governance, compliance, and audit frameworks
