Job Description:
Position Objective
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for servicing and maintaining manufacturing equipment to ensure intended design and performance standards are met. This position supports continuous operations while adhering to strict Food Safety, Quality Assurance, and Occupational Safety requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Preventive & Corrective Maintenance
- Perform preventive maintenance on equipment, including greasing, oiling, inspection, and adjustments.
- Inspect and maintain bearings, oil and fluid levels, chain and belt tension, and equipment condition.
- Examine sprockets, pins, gears, shears, keepers, guards, brackets, rollers, and welds for wear or damage.
- Conduct basic operational maintenance and troubleshoot mechanical equipment issues.
Plant Operations Knowledge
- Maintain working knowledge of the entire plant operation, including unloading, processing, and packaging of products.
- Monitor equipment to ensure proper operation and minimal downtime.
Repair & Fabrication
- Use hand and power tools to complete repairs and maintenance tasks.
- Perform basic fabrication using welders, torches, and other fabrication tools and materials as required.
Material Handling
- Operate forklifts and pallet jacks as needed (training/certification as required).
Chemical Handling
- Safely handle, store, and dispense maintenance, cleaning, and sanitizing chemicals according to company procedures.
Documentation & Procedures
- Follow all work instructions and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Perform additional duties across multiple departments as assigned by supervisors or management.
Scheduling & Availability
- Available to work day or night shifts with flexible scheduling.
- Willing to change shifts as needed to cover vacations, illnesses, or business demands.
Food Quality Responsibilities
- Monitor equipment to ensure it remains in good working condition.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance checks.
- Report any quality concerns or issues to the Food Safety/Quality Assurance (FS/QA) Manager or other designated company officials.
Food Safety Responsibilities
- Follow company cGMP and food safety programs.
- Set up and perform High-Intensity Processing (HIP) operations as required.
- Adhere to sanitation procedures when performing maintenance activities.
- Report any food safety concerns to the FS/QA Manager or other designated company officials.
Occupational Safety Responsibilities
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
- Report identified safety hazards or risks to management or a safety committee representative.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Position requires frequent lifting, bending, crawling, kneeling, reaching, standing for extended periods, walking, and climbing ladders.
- Work may occur in hot, wet, dusty, or industrial environments.
