Position Summary
Cumberland University invites applications for a dynamic and student-centered Adjunct instructor of Legal Environment of Business. This position focuses on teaching undergraduate courses that explore the legal, regulatory, and ethical environment in which businesses operate. The successful candidate will help prepare future business leaders to navigate complex legal issues with confidence, integrity, and practical understanding.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach at least one course per semester (2 days per week) in Legal Environment of Business, Business Law, and related subjects (in-person format).
- Develop and update course materials, syllabi, and assessments to reflect current legal developments, landmark cases, and emerging regulatory trends.
- Foster an engaging, inclusive, and interactive learning environment that connects legal concepts to real-world business practice.
- Mentor undergraduate students on academic and career matters.
- Stay current with developments in business law, employment law, contracts, torts, intellectual property, ethics, and regulatory compliance.
Required Qualifications
- Master's Degree or Ph.D. in the teaching area or in a related field and a substantial record of recent professional experience or academically qualified Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school or equivalent higher level of degree completion
- Demonstrated expertise in business law or the legal environment of business.
- Record of effective teaching at the college/university level (or equivalent professional experience).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a commitment to student success.
- Ability to teach complex legal concepts in clear, practical, and accessible ways to non-law business students.
