The Role
We're looking for a driven and structured Product Owner to join the DIY services team at Verisure Innovation's modern downtown Malmö office.
The DIY services team — seven people strong, spanning developers, a tester, and an architect — builds backend solutions focused on monitoring battery health and triggering device/battery replacement. It's meaningful, technically interesting work at the intersection of lifecycle management and smart home security.
As Product Owner, you'll be the bridge between strategy/planning and execution: translating business goals into clear priorities, keeping the team focused and unblocked, and representing the team to stakeholders across the organisation. You'll work closely with developers, architects, project managers, and both internal and external stakeholders to ensure the team delivers with clarity, focus, and momentum.
You'll operate without formal people management responsibility, but you'll be expected to lead — through trust, communication, and the ability to bring people together around shared goals. We're looking for someone with strong people skills who can inspire, create engagement, handle different personalities, and navigate complex situations with composure.
This role is genuinely hybrid in nature: part product ownership, part hands-on contributor. We want someone who doesn't just oversee delivery from the sidelines — but who can roll up their sleeves and get involved in the actual work when it matters.
What You’ll Do
Own the backlog — define, prioritise, and maintain user stories and requirements so the team always knows what to build and why, continuously aligned with business value, project planning, and team capacity
Bridge business and technology — work with international stakeholders, PMO functions, and other technical teams to gather and break down requirements, align expectations/plans, and communicate progress, risks, and trade-offs
Create transparency — help stakeholders understand how scope, priorities, and technical realities impact delivery; act as a key point of contact for communication, alignment, and delivery-related discussions
Drive Agile delivery — actively manage sprint planning, backlog refinement, stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives; keep ceremonies lean and purposeful
Remove blockers — clarify requirements, define acceptance criteria, and ensure that completed work meets expected quality standards
Shape product direction — contribute to roadmap and strategy discussions, helping balance short-term delivery needs with long-term product direction
Contribute to day-to-day delivery — actively participate in the team's sprint work by picking up development or testing tickets; it's an expected and valued part of the role when capacity allows. We use a microservices architecture primarily developed in Java.
What We’re Looking For
3–5+ years as a Product Owner, Tech Lead, or similar role in an Agile/Scrum environment
Strong understanding of Agile methodologies and product development processes
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills — comfortable in both technical and business conversations
Strong leadership, collaboration, and people-oriented skills
Proven ability to translate ambiguous business needs into clear, actionable requirements
Good technical understanding and experience working closely with development teams and technical requirements and documentation.
Fluency in English
Strong advantage: hands-on experience in Java software development or QA/testing — ideally to the level where you can actively contribute to sprint work, not just oversee it
Who You Are
You are structured, pragmatic, and delivery-focused, with a natural ability to create clarity in complex environments. You make decisions confidently, balance priorities, and challenge assumptions constructively — while still being collaborative and approachable. Complex environments don't overwhelm you; you thrive in them.
You enjoy working closely with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, and you're energised by environments where teamwork, ownership, and continuous improvement are valued.
You're also someone who gets satisfaction from shipping things — not just organising the work, but being part of delivering it. Whether that means writing a test, picking up a bug fix, or helping the team push a feature over the line, you see hands-on contribution as a natural extension of good product ownership, not a distraction from it.
Above all, you lead naturally — not through hierarchy, but through communication, engagement, trust, and the ability to bring people together around shared goals.
