

Infection Prevention and Control Lead

Salary: Up to £48,750.00 FTE per year (depending on level of experience, training and qualification)

We have an opportunity for an Infection Prevention and Control Lead to join their team of staff in the nursing department.
This is a part- time role for 15 hours a week. The role holder will be required to cover a flexible shift pattern.
Duties of this role include:
Lead on the implementation and monitoring of the hospital’s infection prevention and control strategy.
Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, and guidance (e.g. CQC, HIS, HTM 01-05, and national IPC standards).
Oversee surveillance of healthcare-associated infections, antibiotic resistance, and outbreaks.
Investigate and report IPC incidents, supporting root cause analysis (RCA) and implementation of action plans.
Deliver IPC training to all levels of staff as part of induction, mandatory training, and ongoing development.
Provide expert advice and support to clinical teams, ensuring best practice in hand hygiene, aseptic technique, PPE use, and decontamination.
Applicants should meet the following criteria:
Registered Nurse (Adult) or relevant healthcare professional with active NMC/HCPC registration.
Significant experience in infection prevention and control.
Strong knowledge of current IPC legislation, national guidance, and audit standards.
Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to influence practice across all staff levels.
Experience in incident investigation, audit, and delivering staff training.
