As a Scrum Master – Complex, managing two squads, you influence and guide Agile behaviours in a Hyper Automation context, drawing upon a deep understanding of Agile values, principles, and frameworks. You ensure Agile methods and processes are applied consistently with the agreed Agile Operating Model, while adapting them pragmatically to complex automation and AI delivery.
You promote the effective use of Agile practices and help teams maximize value delivery across workflow management (PEGA, Power Platform), robotics (UiPath), virtual assistants (Druid AI, Copilot Studio), and AI-enabled solutions, operating in environments characterized by high uncertainty, multiple dependencies, and frequent change.
General Description
- Ensure the Agile team lives Agile values and principles and follows pre-agreed Agile processes and practices within the Hyper Automation delivery model.
- Facilitate and support squads delivering end-to-end automation and AI solutions, helping them improve flow, predictability, and quality.
- Act as a roadblock remover, proactively identifying and resolving impediments related to technology, dependencies, governance, compliance, or organizational constraints.
- Protect the team from outside interruptions and distractions while enabling effective collaboration with business, IT, architecture, security, and operations stakeholders.
- Operate largely autonomously in complex delivery contexts, including multiple cross-domain dependencies, regulatory requirements, and evolving automation and AI technologies.
- Support team intake by facilitating refinement of complex requirements, breaking down work into valuable, testable items, and managing dependencies and uncertainty.
- Foster a strong culture of continuous improvement, learning, and experimentation aligned with Hyper Automation principles.
- Coach the team towards higher levels of self-organization and cross-functionality, especially across automation, AI, and integration skills.
- Share knowledge, practices, and lessons learned with other Scrum Masters and contribute to the Scrum Master Community of Practice.
Role & Responsibilities
- Provide overall guidance to ensure teams adhere to Agile principles and practices while delivering complex automation and AI solutions.
- Guide Agile teams to efficiently deliver high-value outcomes across workflow automation, robotics, virtual assistants, and AI initiatives.
- Coach teams and stakeholders in environments where Agile maturity varies or is still evolving.
- Interact with stakeholders outside the Agile team (business, architecture, security, operations, vendors) to clarify roles, expectations, and contribution models.
- Increase team efficiency by organizing and facilitating Agile events and decision-making processes, including:
- Sprint and release planning
- Backlog refinement and sizing
- Sprint reviews, demos, and retrospectives
- Dependency and risk management sessions
- Remove impediments by managing conflicting interests, negotiating priorities, proactively identifying risks, and adapting scope where needed.
- Facilitate transparency by sharing progress, risks, and dependencies through appropriate communication and reporting channels.
- Plan and coordinate testing activities, environment deployments, and system integration testing across automation and AI platforms.
- Work with Product Owners and stakeholders to continuously improve delivery outcomes in terms of quality, productivity, and business value.
- Coach teams towards self-organization, cross-functionality, and effective adoption of Agile and DevOps practices.
- Collect, analyze, and leverage team KPIs (e.g. velocity, flow, predictability) to drive continuous improvement.
- Follow up on, report, and contribute to risk management activities (e.g. compliance, security, operational readiness, procurement/finance).
- Ensure deliverables comply with applicable guidelines and standards (e.g. documentation, auditability, security).
- Facilitate planning sessions and translate outcomes into capability and delivery plans aligned with Hyper Automation roadmaps.
- Support and guide Product Owners in managing complex Product Backlogs, including dependencies, ambiguity, volatility, and architectural or infrastructural complexity.
- Escalate impediments and share corrective actions with the Agile Centre of Excellence (CoE) and relevant governance bodies.
